Friday June Ninth at 6:30PM-8PM, join us for our annual summer school: Education Through Connection. The Ninth of June will be focused on the YCL as some of our members lead conversations. Saturday June 10th, you are invited to our community focused day, there will be drinks, music and snacks. Starts at 1pm, finishes at 8pm. Held at the AUUC (11018 97 St NW).

The Communist Party organized an announcement to the parliamentary press gallery and a march in Ottawa today to demand an end to corporate price gouging, price roll backs and higher wages.

Victory for labour across Canada signals to us, the need for increased labour militancy and leadership. CUPE's continuing battle is also about the millions of unionized and non-union workers who cannot make ends meet despite working full-time, and at multiple jobs. Rising prices, rents, and interest rates are pushing workers into poverty, and desperation. This battle, too, requires that same labour unity demonstrated by the education workers.

On this day in 1953, a small group of revolutionaries led by Fidel Castro attempted an attack on the Moncada barracks in Santiago de Cuba. 61 revolutionaries were killed, the rest were imprisoned and tortured. This attack sparked the revolution, a proletariat uprising against the fascist Batista regime.

Cuba shows us that a better world is not just possible, it is inevitable so long as we continue the struggle 🇨🇺 Viva Cuba! 🇨🇺

For yet another year, with the end of Pride Day and Month, we once again see the rainbow fading from the logos of the big international brands and monopolies.

The instrumentalisation and commodification of a date such as LGBT Pride by the monopolies is becoming more and more evident. A date that was born because of the popular Stonewall riots with dignified demands against LGBTphobia and for LGBT rights. The big corporations see this date as a way to pinkwash their brands and present them as tolerable, as well as another opportunity to do business and enrich themselves.

The World Federation of Democratic Youth does not buy into their pinkwashing campaigns, nor will tolerate that they see our struggles as a way to profit. In the face of this exploitative and oppressive system, we will keep alive the struggle against LGBTphobia and any kind of oppression, and for our rights. Our pride has no price.

Un año más, con el fin del día y del mes del Orgullo, volvemos a ver cómo el arcoíris se va desvaneciendo en los logos de las grandes marcas y monopolios internacionales.

Cada vez se hace más evidente la instrumentalización y mercantilización que los monopolios realizan de una fecha como la del orgullo LGTB. Una fecha que nació al calor de las protestas populares de Stonewall y con dignas reivindicaciones contra la LGTBfobia y por los derechos LGTB. Las grandes corporaciones ven en esta fecha una vía para blanquear sus marcas y presentarlas como tolerables, así como otra opción más de hacer negocio y enriquecerse.

Desde la Federación Mundial de la Juventud Democrática no nos tragamos sus campañas de blanqueamiento, ni toleraremos que vean en nuestras luchas una vía para lucrarse. Ante este sistema explotador y opresor, mantendremos viva la lucha contra la LGTBfobia y cualquier tipo de opresión y por nuestros derechos. Porque nuestro orgullo no está en venta.
