This National Volunteer Week, we are filled with gratitude for the incredible community that surrounds Pilgrims Hospice.

This year, over 200 dedicated volunteers generously gave 14,422 hours of their time, compassion and care. That’s the equivalent of more than 7 full-time staff members — a truly remarkable contribution that speaks volumes about the heart of our community.

Behind every hour is a moment of kindness: a comforting conversation, a helping hand and a quiet presence when it matters most. Our volunteers are an essential part of the care we provide, bringing warmth, dignity and connection to those we serve and their loved ones.

Join Our Board of Directors (Volunteer Opportunity)

We are seeking passionate and experienced individuals to join our Board and help guide the strategic direction and governance of our organization.

We provide supportive and compassionate family-centred care to enhance the quality and dignity of life for those diagnosed with a progressive, life-threatening illness, as well as support to those who are grieving.

We are especially seeking individuals with experience in:
• Healthcare
• Accounting or Financial Management

Pilgrims Hospice Society is seeking two compassionate Nurse Practitioners to support our Home Visiting Hub program:

🔹 1 Part-Time Nurse Practitioner (0.5 FTE)
🔹 1 Full-Time Nurse Practitioner (1.0 FTE - In partnership with Edmonton West Primary Care Network.)

In the five years since opening the Roozen Family Hospice Centre the impact of our community has been extraordinary.
✨ In just five years:
• 816 residents have called our hospice “home”
• ~480,000 hours of resident care provided
• 90%+ occupancy every year since 2022 — with a peak of 99.1% in 2025
• 770 Home Visiting Hub clients supported, reducing ER visits by 45%
• 187 patients & families guided through 528 hours of Care Navigation
• Nearly 700 hours of grief programming across 460+ sessions
• 4,000 hours of Day Program activities and 22,000 hours of caregiver respite
• 62,000+ volunteer hours — saving the equivalent of 6 full-time roles each year
