That’s a wrap on the 2025 Junior Forest Rangers season!
Our crews worked hard all summer - challenging themselves and dedicating countless hours to learning, training, growing, creating memories, and building meaningful connections.

We celebrate and congratulate all of our crews for their hard work and dedication.
A huge thank you to everyone who contributed to this year’s success: our committed crew members and leaders, forestry and wildfire teams, parents, project partners, and all those who supported us behind the scenes.
Best of luck to all our crew members and leaders on their next adventures! 🍀🌲🔥

Hi!
We’re the Grande Prairie crew, and we’ve had an awesome summer!
Our favourite week was when we all went to Slave Lake for a few days. We got to spend time with other crews, learn about FireSmart, bird banding, and play in the waves of the lake. Many of us especially enjoyed the tour of the Boreal Centre for Bird Conservation, as we got to learn about migration patterns, different types of songbirds, and bird behaviour. Others on our crew really enjoyed our first wildfire day, as we got to travel to Fire 28 and conduct a mop up. It was really cool to experience firsthand the work that firefighters do on a real wildfire - and these are just a few of the amazing opportunities we got to experience this summer!

Hello everybody!
We’re the Fox creek crew for 2025, and our summer has been nothing short of amazing. We've had the chance to dive deep into nature, picking up new skills and unforgettable experiences along the way. From hands-on forestry activities to quiet moments connecting with the land, it’s been a great mix of learning and adventure.
One of the biggest highlights so far has definitely been the canoe course. Spending two full days on what’s known as the cleanest lake in Alberta was truly special. Not only did we get to enjoy the water and scenery, but we also learned about the importance of leaving no trace and respecting the spaces we explore.
Another memorable experience was trail building. As tough as it was, seeing a trail come together from start to finish was incredibly rewarding. It gave us a real sense of accomplishment and teamwork.

Hi everyone! We’re the Lac La Biche crew for 2025, and we’ve already had an incredible start to the summer. Our crew has had some exciting new experiences and insightful learning opportunities, and we can’t wait to see what else is to come! One of our favourite highlights so far has been learning about forest management and sustainability. Getting to explore cut blocks and learn about the ways the logging industry operates has given us a deeper and more positive outlook around logging and the impacts that it has on the forest. Another unforgettable experience was getting to explore the Lac La Biche air tanker base and see all of the airplanes and helicopters used in forestry up close!
We look forward to all the adventures and memories ahead!

Meet the 2025 Rocky JFR Crew : Mervin, Erik, Tucker, Zed, Albi, Evan, Rachel, Caleb and Trice, who teamed up with Kate, Tyler, and Brodie from the Great Divide Trail Association ( ) for a serious backcountry challenge!
Armed with nothing but Pulaskis, rogue hoes, and sheer determination, the crew pushed through steep, rocky alpine terrain to build 280 meters of new trail along Section B of the Great Divide Trail, which is just 800 meters between Lake Erris and Clay Lake. Through sweat, grit, and more blisters than they’d like to admit, they carved a path for future hikers to follow. This project is a testament to what youth and community can achieve together building, maintaining, and protecting trails for generations to come!
