Congratulations to the dental assisting classes of 2026!
You’ve worked hard and are ready to take the next step in your career and become a regulated professional.
As you begin your journey, it’s important to know that dental assisting is a regulated profession in Alberta. To practise or call yourself a dental assistant, you must be registered with the College of Alberta Dental Assistants and hold a valid practice permit.
Registration means you’ve met Alberta’s education, training, and practice requirements. Once registered, you can use protected titles like Dental Assistant (DA) and Registered Dental Assistant (RDA).
Visit the applicants and students section of our website to learn more about your pathway to registration: https://abrda.ca/for-applicants-and-students/

In Alberta, more than 800 dental assistants graduate each year.
This number doesn’t include the many applicants educated outside Alberta who also register with the College annually.
The College ensures all new registrants meet the required standards and are prepared to provide safe, competent and ethical oral health care to Albertans.
