๐ŸŽƒ Another SUPER Halloween night here at Gagetown Fire! ๐Ÿ‘ป

We welcomed another 100+ trick-or-treaters through our doors tonight, and what a great evening it was!

To the residents of Gagetown and surrounding areas, Arcadia Municipality, and our very own firefighters โ€” we honestly cannot thank you enough for the incredible support and generosity shown toward this event.

From the donations to the helping hands, you all played a part in making tonight a success.

OUTSTANDING community support! โค๏ธ

The clocks fall back tonight, at 2 a.m. Sunday Nov 1. The extra hour of sleep is nice, but there's a little button on the ceiling that's easy to forget about. โฐ

Grandma tied the two together, every single time. It wasn't just a habit.

๐Ÿ‚ THE CLOCK-CHANGE CHECK โฌ‡๏ธ

1. ๐Ÿ”˜ PRESS THE TEST BUTTON. Hold it until the alarm sounds. A loud beep means it's working. Fire safety groups recommend testing every alarm at least once a month, and the clock change is an easy one to remember.

2. ๐Ÿ”‹ A CHIRP USUALLY MEANS A LOW BATTERY. That single chirp every minute or so is the alarm asking for help. If it keeps chirping after a new battery, check the date on the back. If yours takes regular batteries, replace them at least once a year.

3. ๐Ÿ“… LOOK AT THE DATE ON THE BACK. Smoke alarms wear out. The NFPA says to replace them once they're 10 years old, and the date they were made is printed on the back.

4. ๐Ÿ  ONE ON EVERY LEVEL. Inside each bedroom, outside the sleeping areas, and on every floor, basement included.

๐Ÿ‚ And the old way: Grandma set the clocks back on Saturday evening, then handed Grandpa the step stool. He pressed the button on each alarm while she covered her ears and counted them off.

๐Ÿ’ฌ When did you last test your smoke alarms? ๐Ÿ‘‡

From decorating with jack-o-lanterns to costume parties and trick-or-treating, many hallmarks of present fire hazards.

Nearly half (47%) of U.S. home fires occurred because decorations were too close to a heat source; approximately one-third (33%) started with candles.
