Thousand Islands National Park is a boater's paradise in the heart of the Thousand Islands. Follow us on Twitter

As a small protected area in the heart of the Thousand Islands, Thousand Islands National Park works to promote sustainable recreation while protecting the land and wildlife that make the area a popular tourist destination. The park is located in an area of rich biodiversity and is home to many species at risk. Thousand Islands National Park consists of several ecologically important mainland properties and more than 20 islands between Kingston and Brockville. The Visitor Centre at Mallorytown Landing provides an introduction to the park with a hiking trail, interpretive programs, exhibits, and activities for the whole family. The park is a key regional partner in encouraging sustainable lifestyles and in protecting the ecosystems of the Frontenac Arch Biosphere Reserve. The Biosphere Reserve, officially designated by the United Nations in 2002, recognizes the region as a place where people live, work, and enjoy a variety of economic and recreational activities based on respect for the environment. Lawrence Islands celebrated its centennial in 2004. The unique ecosystem of the park will be preserved as a legacy for the next century and beyond. Small plant, big impact. 🌱

Have you spotted narrow-leaved bittercress? 🌿This newly introduced invasive plant is spreading across Canada and can quickly take over moist, shaded habitats like forest edges and streambanks. 🏞️

While it may look harmless, narrow-leaved bittercress can form dense patches that:
🌷Crowd out native plants
🌷Reduce biodiversity
🌷Impact habitat for wildlife

Good news – early detection makes a big difference. Staff at Thousand Islands National Park are trained to identify and properly remove invasive species to reduce their spread and protect the ecosystems we all enjoy. 💚

Help protect native plants and wildlife – reduce the spread of invasive species by cleaning your outdoor gear and boots before exploring a new area. 🐦
