❤️ Community Supporting Community!

On Saturday morning, our Spencer House Seniors Connect NS team was delighted to join the Sackville Volunteer Firefighters Organization (SVFFO) at their Community Day in Lower Sackville!💙

While SVFFO members helped keep their community safe by providing smoke detectors and fire extinguishers, we had the opportunity to share information about our Seniors Connect NS program and how it brings older adults together through our senior centre without walls across NS – a telephone-based program offering guest speakers, conversation, friendship, and connection.

We are incredibly grateful to SVFFO for their generous investment in Seniors Connect NS, made possible through funding from the Nova Scotia Firefighters 50/50.

These volunteer firefighters already give so much to their communities, and we're thrilled to be part of their expanding commitment to community support.

A heartfelt thank you to SVFFO, their Community Outreach Committee, and everyone who helped bring this wonderful new partnership together!

When communities come together, good things happen! 🌟

TV Travel Today took us to Bosnia! 🌟 Thank you to our member Mirsada and her son who took the time to create a presentation about their home country. We enjoyed a Bosnia Sample Plate for lunch, including delicious stuffed peppers! 💙

It is so interesting to learn more about different countries and cultures, especially from our very own members!

On Mondays, participants of Seniors Connect NS come together on the telephone to be guided through a light exercise routine, then settle into a group meditation.
Many participants say they feel very relaxed and at ease after these sessions.

Spencer House is participating in the Nocturne Festival! ✴
Our Art & Soul Program, supported by Mental Health Foundation of Nova Scotia and in partnership with ISANS, have created an exhibit called "Illuminations". It is a beautiful series of lanterns: to make visable that which is hidden from view.

Our exhibit is at number 216 on the map. This is a small green space south of the Old Burial Grounds just off Barrington St.

We hope you can make it! We are so thrilled to be part of Nocturne and we thank everyone that took part in creating our Illuminations. 💙

We are in need of volunteers for our Kitchen Crew. If you have experience and/or a willingness to learn, we would love to have you! Our Kitchen Crew is essential to our centre, helping prepare and serve our weekday meal program, with opportunities for baking desserts, assisting our chef, and connecting directly with our members.
