La GRC d'Iqaluit accuse un homme de 59 ans d'enlèvement et d'agression se****le

Le 29 mai 2026, la GRC d'Iqaluit a reçu le signalement d'une femme adulte qui affirmait avoir été enlevée et agressée se****lement.

La victime a déclaré qu'elle rentrait chez elle à pied le 24 mai 2026, entre minuit et 2 h du matin, lorsqu'elle a été forcée de monter dans un véhicule et conduite à un endroit non divulgué où elle a été agressée se****lement. Le 30 juin 2026, la GRC d'Iqaluit a arrêté André Joseph Bedard (59 ans), accusé des infractions suivantes :

- Enlèvement (article 279 du Code civil)

- Agression se****le (article 271 du Code civil)

- Menaces (article 264.1(1) du Code civil)

M. Bedard a été placé en détention provisoire et comparaîtra de nouveau le 6 juillet 2026 à Iqaluit (Nunavut).

L'enquête se poursuit afin de déterminer s'il y a d'autres victimes. Une photo de M. Bedard est jointe à l'enquête.

Iqaluit RCMP charge 59-year-old man with Kidnapping and Sexual Assault

On May 29, 2026, the Iqaluit RCMP received a report from an adult female who stated she had been abducted and sexually assaulted.

The victim stated she was walking home on May 24, 2026, between 12:00 a.m. and 2:00 a.m. when she was forced into a vehicle and driven to an undisclosed location where she was sexually assaulted.

On June 30, 2026, the Iqaluit RCMP arrested Andre Joseph Bedard (age 59), he was charged with:

- Kidnapping, Section 279 C.C.
- Sexual Assault, Section 271 C.C.
- Uttering Threats, Section 264.1(1) C.C.

Bedard was remanded into custody, and his next court appearance is scheduled for July 6, 2026, in Iqaluit, Nunavut.

Police are continuing their investigation to determine if there are other victims. To aid in the investigation, a photo of Bedard is included.

Le 25 juin 2026, vers 4 h, la GRC d'Iqaluit a été appelée pour un incendie de cabane dans le secteur de la route 40 Ouest à Iqaluit (Nunavut).

L'incendie a été maîtrisé par le service des incendies d'Iqaluit. La cabane a été détruite et un bidon d'eau situé à proximité a été endommagé. Aucun blessé n'a été signalé.

La cause de l'incendie fait toujours l'objet d'une enquête. La GRC d'Iqaluit invite toute personne ayant été témoin de l'incident ou possédant des renseignements à ce sujet à communiquer avec elle au 867-975-0123. Iqaluit RCMP is seeking public assistance in Fire Investigation

On June 25, 2026, at approximately 4:00 a.m, the Iqaluit RCMP responded to a report of a shack fire at the West 40 area of Iqaluit, Nunavut.

The fire was extinguished by the Iqaluit Fire Department. The shack was destroyed and the sea can next to the fire was damaged. There was no report of injuries.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation. The Iqaluit RCMP are seeking anyone who may have witnessed the incident or have any information related to the incident to contact them at 867-975-0123. La GRC participe au nettoyage communautaire d’Iqaluit 2026

Les membres et employés de la GRC d’Iqaluit étaient fiers de participer cette semaine au nettoyage communautaire annuel.

Avec un peu d’aide de Safety Bear, notre équipe a travaillé ensemble à la chaussée d’Iqaluit, recueillant un total de 12 sacs poubelles et aidant à garder notre communauté propre.

Nous étions heureux de faire partie de cette initiative importante et de soutenir un Iqaluit plus propre et sécuritaire pour tous!

With a little help from Safety Bear, our team worked together at the Iqaluit Causeway, collecting a total of 12 garbage bags and helping keep our community clean.

La GRC du Nunavut souhaite informer les résidents d’Iqaluit qu’elle mènera des exercices d’entraînement de 7 h à 19 h, le jeudi 28 mai et le vendredi 29 mai.

Les résidents pourront apercevoir des agents de la GRC en uniforme tactique à divers endroits de la ville. La GRC assure le public qu’il s’agit d’un entraînement de routine et qu’il n’y a pas lieu de s’inquiéter.

La GRC remercie le public de sa compréhension et de sa collaboration durant ces exercices.

La GRC d'Iqaluit saisit une a**e à feu prohibée à la suite d'un contrôle routier

Le 16 mai 2026, vers 22 h 50, la GRC d'Iqaluit a procédé à un contrôle routier sur le chemin Ataani.

Lors de ce contrôle, les policiers avaient des motifs raisonnables d'arrêter le conducteur et le passager pour possession de biens obtenus criminellement. Après l'arrestation, ils ont trouvé dans le véhicule de la cocaïne, de l'argent et une a**e à feu prohibée chargée.

Abdullah Ahman (35 ans) a été accusé de :

- Possession non autorisée d'une a**e à feu prohibée dans un véhicule automobile, article 94(1) du C.C.

- Possession non autorisée d'une a**e à feu prohibée, article 91(1) du C.C. - Transport négligent d'une a**e à feu prohibée chargée, article 86(2) C.C.

- Port d'une a**e dissimulée, article 90(1) C.C.

- Possession d'une a**e obtenue par la perpétration d'une infraction, article 96(1) C.C.

- Possession d'une a**e à feu à autorisation restreinte avec mu*****ns, article 95(1) C.C.

- Possession d'une a**e dans un dessein dangereux, article 88(1) C.C.

Un jeune de 16 ans (non-résident du Nunavut) a été accusé des infractions suivantes :

- Possession non autorisée d'une a**e à feu prohibée dans un véhicule automobile, article 94(1) C.C.

- Possession non autorisée d'une a**e à feu prohibée, article 91(1) C.C.

- Transport négligent d'une a**e à feu prohibée chargée, article 86(2) C.C.

- Port d'une a**e dissimulée, article 90(1) C.C. - Possession d'une a**e obtenue par la perpétration d'une infraction, article 96(1) C.C.

- Possession d'une a**e à feu à autorisation restreinte avec mu*****ns, article 95(1) C.C.

- Possession de biens obtenus par la perpétration d'un crime, article 354(1)a) C.C.

Abdullah a été placé en détention provisoire et comparaîtra de nouveau le 26 mai 2026 à Iqaluit (Nunavut).

Le jeune a été libéré et comparaîtra de nouveau le 26 juin 2026 à Iqaluit (Nunavut).

On May 16, 2026, at approximately 10:50 p.m., the Iqaluit RCMP conducted a traffic stop on Ataani Lane.

During the traffic stop, police had reasonable grounds to arrest the driver and passenger for possession of property obtained by crime. Upon arrest, police located, co***ne, cash and a loaded prohibited fi***rm in the vehicle.

Abdullah Ahmad (age 35) was charged with:

- Unauthorized possession of a prohibited fi***rm in a motor vehicle, Section 94(1) C.C.

- Unauthorized possession of a prohibited fi***rm, Section 91(1) C.C.

- Careless transportation of a loaded prohibited fi***rm, Section 86(2) C.C.

- Carrying a concealed weapon, Section 90(1) C.C.

- Possession of weapon obtained by commission of offence, Section 96(1) C.C.

- Possession of a restricted fi***rm with am******on, Section 95(1) C.C.

- Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose, Section 88(1) C.C.

A 16-year-old youth (non-Nunavut resident) was charged with:

- Unauthorized possession of a prohibited fi***rm in a motor vehicle, Section 94(1) C.C.

- Unauthorized possession of a prohibited fi***rm, Section 91(1) C.C.

- Careless transportation of a loaded prohibited fi***rm, Section 86(2) C.C.

- Carrying a concealed weapon, Section 90(1) C.C.

La GRC d'Iqaluit sollicite l'aide du public pour identifier un suspect

Le 13 mai 2026, la GRC d'Iqaluit a reçu une plainte pour méfait et vol dans un véhicule survenu durant la fin de semaine.

L'incident s'est produit le 9 mai 2026, entre 1 h et 2 h, dans le stationnement de la Légion royale canadienne. Les images de vidéosurveillance montrent un individu inconnu s'introduisant par effraction dans un véhicule stationné et en dérobant des objets. La GRC d'Iqaluit demande l'aide du public pour identifier le suspect.

Description du suspect :

- Portait des vêtements foncés et un capuchon.

- Circulait à vélo de couleur foncée.

Iqaluit RCMP requesting public assistance in identifying suspect

On May 13, 2026, Iqaluit RCMP received a complaint of mischief and theft to a vehicle that occurred over weekend.

The incident occurred on May 9, 2026, between 1:00 a.m, and 2:00 a.m, at the Royal Canadian Legion parking lot. CCTV footage was available which shows an unknown suspect breaking into the parked vehicle and removing items. Iqaluit RCMP are requesting assistance from the public to identify the suspect.

Description of suspect:

- Last seen wearing all dark clothing with a hood,
- Riding a dark-coloured bicycle.
