This one feels a little bittersweet to share. 🤍
After five years of being on call for births, I’ve made the decision to step away from regular birth doula support and will no longer be accepting new birth clients.
Birth work has given me so much. It allowed me to build a career I deeply love while still being home with my boys during some of their littlest years. And it has given me the incredible privilege of walking alongside so many families during moments I will never forget.
But as my kids get older, I’m recognizing that this season of our family needs something different from me, too.
Over the next year, I’ll be completing my MSW, continuing to build Cradled, and expanding my work supporting perinatal mental health and wellness.
I’m not quite ready to say “never again” to birth work. I may still occasionally support repeat families and friends when my capacity allows. But for now, I’m ready to step away from the 24/7 on-call life and give myself the space to see where this next chapter leads.
To every family who has invited me into your story over the past five years: thank you.
I will never take the privilege of being part of your birth experience for granted.
This isn’t goodbye to perinatal work. It’s simply a new way of showing up in it. 🤍
Here’s to the next chapter.
