Last week's Latin American Heritage Month celebration with Kitchener Waterloo Multicultural Centre was so much fun!

It was a great evening with Chef Eduardo and the Mapu Chile Canada dancers. We loved seeing the traditional Chilean dances and the amazing energy they brought to Central Library!

Thanks to everyone who joined us!

🎨 The Teen Art Showcase is coming back!

All teens (ages 12-18) are invited to submit up to two pieces of art to be displayed in the Central Library Art Gallery.

🖼️ Artwork of all styles and abilities will be accepted! Just make sure it's framed with a wire on the back so that we can hang it.

No need to register, just have your teen drop off their artwork at any Kitchener Public Library location from October 13-26.

🎉 We'll celebrate the opening of the exhibit with a Kick Off Party on Thursday, November 12 at 6:30 p.m.

Check out a slice of Kitchener's German past!

Do you know what a "Saengerfest" is? It's a German singing festival that was popular in the early days of Kitchener and Waterloo.

In 1873, the Concordia Male Choir formed and performed in local Saengerfests. This choir was the beginnings of the Concordia Club that we know today as the home of Kitchener-Waterloo Oktoberfest.

In honour of German Heritage Month, we wanted to share these artifacts from the Grace Schmidt Room of Local History. These photos show a variety of awards, programs and music scores from local Saengerfests.
