Over the next few weeks, Regional crews will be doing a second round of overnight grass and w**d maintenance on traffic islands on Regional roads. This is part of our effort to help our roadsides stay neat and beautiful while maintaining sightlines for pedestrians and drivers.

No major disruptions are expected – we just want to keep you in the loop!

We responded to a large volume of calls during Victoria Day celebrations throughout Waterloo Region.

Between 4:30 p.m. and 12 a.m., officers responded to multiple incidents in Victoria Park and downtown Kitchener, including fireworks misuse, disturbances, and public safety concerns.

Victoria Park was closed early to ensure public safety and assist with crowd dispersal.

Police continue to investigate several incidents, including one in which a lit firework was tossed into a roadway and struck a WRPS officer and a by-law officer.
