Kitchener Waterloo Humane Society The Humane Society of Kitchener Waterloo & Stratford Perth has been serving the community since 1927. The humane society is self-funded and self-governed.

In 2012, the Kitchener Waterloo Humane Society and the Stratford SPCA combined under one organization and board of directors to create KWSPHS. The Kitchener Waterloo Humane Society and Stratford Perth Humane Society have long standing histories of serving people and pets in their communities. In 2012, the two organizations joined to become one of Ontario's largest animal welfare charities. Today, they are known as The Humane Society of Kitchener Waterloo and Stratford Perth, which operate animal centres in Kitchener and Stratford. Together, they service the areas of Kitchener, Waterloo, Wilmot, Woolwich, Wellesley, Stratford and Perth County. The humane society also helps animals outside of these areas, as time and resources allow. Outside of contracts for animal services, they receive no government funding. Instead, they rely on the generosity of donors to help animals within their communities and to provide animal welfare focused education and outreach. MISSION

Meet Shawty!

This sweet girl is all about affection! Once she feels comfortable with you, Shawty’s playful personality shines, and she’ll happily soak up all the love you have to give.

Shawty can be nervous around new people and unfamiliar environments, so she’ll need a patient family to help her build confidence at her own pace. As a high-energy girl, she’ll also thrive with daily exercise, enrichment, and ongoing positive-reinforcement training.

A few things to know:
- Loves affection once she’s comfortable
- High energy and ready for adventures
- Best suited for a home with older children who have dog experience
- May be compatible with other dogs with proper introductions
- Needs a home without cats or small animals

With patience, encouragement, and lots of love, Shawty has so much potential to blossom into a wonderful companion! ❤️

Could you be the one she’s been waiting for?

Meet Gerdie!

This sweet senior lady is looking for a loving home to enjoy her golden years!

Gerdie has all the classic hound-dog charm, from her curious nose and love of exploring to a voice she's not afraid to use! She enjoys following interesting scents and discovering the world around her, so she'll need a family who understands her hound instincts and can help keep her mind engaged.

At a lower energy level, Gerdie would love a home where she can enjoy daily walks, sniff-filled adventures, and plenty of cozy downtime. She's still working on her leash manners, so a little patience and positive reinforcement will go a long way!

Gerdie's ideal home:
- Older, patient children with dog experience.
- No cats or small animals due to her prey drive.
- Potentially a calm canine companion, with slow introductions.
- A family ready to give a senior girl the love and comfort she deserves.

First-time dog owners may be a good match for Gerdie, too! She's a lovely lady with plenty of personality, and she's ready to find someone who appreciates her for exactly who she is.

Could Gerdie be your perfect match?

Meet C***r!

Just like a cozy fall day, C***r is sweet and gentle! This lovely girl may be a little shy at first, but with patience, kindness, and a family who lets her settle in at her own pace, we think she’ll blossom into the happy, cuddly companion she’s meant to be. ❤️

Meet Mouse!

Forget everything you know about mice, because Mouse is about as far from a tiny, timid house mouse as you can get! This Mouse is friendly, sweet, and smart, with a personality much more suited to the centre of attention than hiding behind the couch. He loves meeting people, soaking up attention, and showing off just how clever he is. Give him a little encouragement (and maybe a few tasty treats), and he's more than happy to put that bright brain to work. Mouse is the kind of dog who would make an excellent assistant for just about anything: snack quality control, neighbourhood walks, learning new tricks, or supervising whatever his family happens to be doing. He's ready to find a family who will keep his clever mind busy, give him plenty of exercise, and appreciate all the sweetness that comes with this very large-in-spirit Mouse.

Mouse's ideal home:
- A house or townhouse (he can be vocal, so no apartments, please!)
- A family ready for daily walks, enrichment, and training
- Potentially compatible with children, cats, and other dogs with appropriate introductions

Mouse is ready to be your walking buddy, snack supervisor, and all-around best friend. Could he be the missing piece of your family?

Mouse is currently in foster care, so please contact our Kitchener Centre to arrange a meet-and-greet or visit kwsphumane.ca/adopt/dogs

While raising her six little ones, Audrey faced heartworm, Lyme disease, and extensive dental treatment. Now, we're helping her get the care she needs to recover and build a brighter future.

We've partnered with Nala&Co. (.coapparel) on a limited-edition collection inspired by Audrey's story, featuring a special moment between Audrey and one of her puppies.

A portion of every purchase goes directly toward Audrey's medical care.

Shop the collection, support Audrey's recovery, and help give this deserving girl the second chance she deserves.
