Today marks 25 years since the September 11th attacks. We remember the courage of all first responders and the innocent lives lost, as well as all who continue to carry the impacts of that day.

In their honor, our department will have our flags lowered to half‑mast. Throughout the day, you may also see our firefighters completing the equivalent of 110 flights of stairs on the exterior of the fire hall, in full gear. This is done in remembrance of the first responders who climbed the World Trade Center in an effort to save others, many of whom made the ultimate sacrifice. We honor their bravery, their service, and their legacy.

The LRRFD extends our deepest condolences to the family, friends, and firefighting community of Fond Du Lac's Fire Chief, Georgie McDonald.

Georgie was a proud member of the fire service whose dedication, kindness, and spirit left a lasting mark on everyone who had the privilege of working alongside him.

We honour his service, his stories, and the legacy he leaves behind. Our thoughts are with all who are grieving his loss.

Our flags will be lowered to half mast until his funeral this Friday in his memory.

This past week, our Fire Department had the honour of welcoming Camp Molly to La Ronge, a program that empowers young women to step confidently into the world of firefighting, leadership, and teamwork.

We are incredibly proud of everything these young women accomplished during their time here. Their dedication, courage, and enthusiasm made this week unforgettable, and we hope each of them leaves with memories that will last a lifetime. We watched them push themselves, support one another, and grow as a team, and it was inspiring to witness.

A huge thank you to our firefighters and volunteers from across Saskatchewan and Canada who made this event possible. Your commitment, mentorship and passion continue to shape and inspire the next generation of leaders in fire services.

We also want to extend our gratitude to Fire Chief Jennifer Cowles of the Saskatoon International Airport and Deputy Fire Chief Krista Bull of the White City Fire Department for spearheading this initiative and working closely with us to bring Camp Molly to our province. You are outstanding role models for women in fire services, and we were honoured to help bring your vision to life.
