On October 18, MWCP celebrated Thanksgiving at St. Michael’s Church in Leamington with migrant workers and community members. We enjoyed delicious food, live music by Roman De la Cruz, and exciting raffle prizes!

El presidente del Programa Comunitario para el Trabajador Migrante (MWCP), Martin Varela, estuvo presente el pasado 8 de octubre en Ottawa, Ontario, durante la décima edición de las celebraciones del Mes de la Herencia Latinoamericana en el Parlamento de Canadá.

Durante este importante evento, recibió un reconocimiento especial en representación de la comunidad latina de México, destacando la importancia de la representación, la diversidad y las contribuciones de los trabajadores migrantes en Canadá.

¡Felicitaciones a Martín Varela por este merecido reconocimiento!

The Chair of the Migrant Worker Community Program (MWCP), Martin Varela, attended the 10th edition of the Latin American Heritage Month celebrations at the Parliament of Canada in Ottawa, Ontario, on October 8.

During this important event, he received special recognition on behalf of the Mexican Latin community, highlighting the importance of representation, diversity, and the valuable contributions of migrant workers in Canada.

Congratulations to Martin Varela on this well-deserved recognition!

October is a good time to focus on your health.

FREE medical check-ups and cancer screenings are available through Windsor Essex Community Health Centre (WECHC). Cancer screening can help find certain cancers early, when treatment may be more effective.

You do not need to have a family doctor to ask about cancer screening.

Are you a migrant worker and need help accessing cancer screening? Contact MWCP (519-992-1677 & 519-999-6277). We can help connect you with WECHC and arrange a booked appointment within the month of October.

Your health matters. Take the time to get checked.

MWCP, in partnership with the Ontario Greenhouse Vegetable Growers (OGVG), proudly organized the 5th Annual Greenhouse Cup 2026, bringing together farm worker teams from across the region for a day of sports, teamwork, and community spirit.

The competition was exciting, and now it’s time to celebrate our 2026 winners!

Congratulations to all the teams who participated and gave their best on the field!
