Lethbridge Police have charged a 59-year-old male with committing an indecent act following an incident at a city park.

On October 15 around 3 p.m., police responded to a report of an indecent act at the playground in Galt Gardens along the 600 block of 3 Avenue South. Witnesses reported that an unknown male sat on a bench near multiple children who were playing in the area and was observed committing an indecent act.

Members of the Downtown Policing Unit attended and located a male matching the suspect description a short time later. He was subsequently arrested without incident.

At the time of the arrest, police determined the male was bound by conditions prohibiting him from attending any city park.

Sean Celdar Wilcox, 59, of Lethbridge, is charged with one count of committing an indecent act in a public place, one count of indecent exposure in the presence of youth under 16 and two counts of failing to comply with a probation order.

Lethbridge police have charged a 58-year-old man in connection with a multi-million dollar internal fraud.

In the fall of 2022, police initiated an investigation after receiving a report of fraudulent activity involving four local businesses.

A lengthy and complex investigation by members of the Economic Crimes Unit determined that between December 2014 and August 2019, nearly $3.5 million was embezzled or fraudulently obtained from the businesses for the personal gain of a male subject. During that time, the male served as an accountant, partner or held other positions within the companies that provided access to the businesses’ financial accounts and records.

Over the nearly five-year period, police identified numerous fraudulent transactions, including forged documents, fraudulently obtained loans, unauthorized transfers and deposits into personal accounts not associated to the businesses. The investigation also uncovered evidence of money laundering.

On October 13 the male was arrested without incident.

Douglas Dale Wilde, 58, of Lethbridge, is charged with four counts each of fraud over $5,000, theft over $5,000 and one count of money laundering.

Wilde was released on an undertaking with conditions and is scheduled to appear in court November 10.

Meet DWW Kourt, an Accredited Facility Dog placed with Lethbridge Police Service in 2022. Her role is dedicated entirely to supporting the officers behind the badge. Much of policing is about serving the community, and Kourt is there to care for the people doing that work.

Police calls can be unpredictable and, at times, incredibly difficult. Kourt is present for the moments that often go unseen. She sits in on debrief meetings, is there after a tough call, and offers quiet support throughout the day.

Sometimes that looks like a calm, steady presence beside an officer. Other times it’s resting her head on someone’s lap, heading out for a walk, or bringing some lightness through play.

However it shows up, Kourt’s role is simple and powerful: to help officers pause, process, and feel supported.

Thank you to Lethbridge Police Service for your partnership, and for prioritizing the well-being of your members. 💙
