Family Day is a wonderful holiday that celebrates the importance of family and community in Canada. A day to spend quality time with your loved ones and enjoy various activities together. It is also a time to reflect on the history, heritage, and diversity of Canada and its people. It is a holiday that brings Canadians closer together and reminds them of the values that matter most.

Smiling because new Beacon House shirts AND we had the honour to meet with members of the Child Abuse Prevention Council of London-Middlesex for the first time this past Monday and speak about who we are and how we help.

The Child Abuse Prevention Council of London-Middlesex is an important incubator for collaboration of different agencies that work toward preventing child maltreatment.

Big thank you to the team there and the members for giving us the opportunity!

We were excited to tour Beacon House with Attorney General of Ontario Doug Downey last week. Thank you Doug for taking the time to talk more with our team and continue the conversation about how we can work together more closely to secure better outcomes for child victims and their families.

What a great privilege it was to meet with Attorney General of Ontario Doug Downey yesterday to discuss how our agency and the justice system can collaborate and align better to improve existing services for youth within the court and therapeutic system, and about future grants and funding that will give even more youth the opportunity to access services.

Doug met and toured with LFCC leaders Tuhin Jajal, Dr. Joyce Radford, Elizabeth Lam, Joelene Bamford, and Tammy Riley. As well as Dr. Kim Harris of Navigating Onward.

Thank you for keeping the conversation going and being a champion for children, youth, and families!

Recently, we had the opportunity to meet with a family that went through our voluntary program.

This family came into the centre not knowing what to expect and feeling distress—as a family might—but soon met with one of our advocates. Our advocate worked with the family, made sure they had everything they needed, and kept in contact after they left.

The family came back. Why? Because they were so inspired by their experience—they came back with toys, a mountain of stuffed animals, and other great things that kids love and told us to give them to other kids that come visit.

We are so incredibly thankful for this family’s generosity. Their donation will make sure that kids and their families that come visit us will have the same great experience as this family did.

It's a misunderstanding that children who are victims and survivors of crime come from bad environments, are troubled themselves, or that the parents or caregivers neglected to remove their child or children from becoming victims.

But the actual truth is much different. Children no matter their background, can become victims.
