The presence of static has increased exponentially with the growing homeless population taking up residence in almost every green space in most if not all metropolitan areas. On Sundays exercise we encountered so many departures and entries from the main path. A sign cutters dream… well more like a nightmare.
Look hard and move fast!

Out yesterday on hard packed walking paths.. although tracking and tracking concepts were used throughout the training it was really a hasty search using edge cutting, track traps and decision points to produce eliminations. With lack of confirmed sign and when time matters, “Move Fast, Look Hard”.

Back to the pit!

Looking at the mechanics of movement and sign. Cross country skis require certain biomechanics for propulsion. Understanding this helps to read the story… multiple skiers? Look at basket design of the poles… crisp snow deeper than an inch creates a fracture and collapse during leg load pre-stroke. Direction of movement… and aging…. Taking something that seems simple and break it down…. Understand it…..
TRAIN.
THINK.
TRACK.

We train as a group Sunday mornings. Our Search team was called out for a missing person as we were heading out.
They had been missing for less than 3 hours and once found we were able to back track their route back to the house. The weather was hovering around zero with a light to medium drizzle and the majority of the tracks were through high traffic areas which provided considerable static. - thought of the day…
In spring and summer and fall the same amount of static would have occurred just not as blatant.

Enough said!

ICORP News Letter 01/04/2023

This is an organization in Africa that we donate to on a monthly basis. ICORP not only conducts anti poaching operations but works with local communities to develop sustainable agriculture practices. We know that money is tight but pick a charity that resonates with you and give a small amount monthly.
Much like volunteering, and the old saying “many hands make light work”. We can make a world a better place by being involved at all levels.
Happy New Year, May it be filled with happiness, health and hope.
