Youth for Youth is a youth-led initiative run out of TVCC. Our role as youth engagement facilitators is to connect youth with disabilities to the community.
We host fun events that allow youth to gain independence and to learn life and social skills. What is Youth for Youth? Youth for Youth was developed in 2010 as a way to explore the programming needs of youth with disabilities at Thames Valley Children’s Centre. From there, it was identified that there were limited opportunities for these young people to develop life skill, meaningful social relati
onships, and to gain new experiences. As such, TVCC decided to make Youth for Youth a permanent service with the goal of assisting our youth in building their independence and reaching their full potential. Now, Youth for Youth hosts events to build such skills. In the past we have hosted events focused on cooking, personal safety, sexual education, budgeting, and much more. Goals and Values
Our main goal is to have fun! With this, we also strive to ensure that we offer a safe and supportive environment. As one of our main roles is to engage youth, we place a high value on input from our clients regarding what they would like to see implemented in our programming. Youth for Youth offers the opportunity for clients to try new experiences, to take initiative, to work in a team, and to advocate for themselves. We integrate the values of open mindedness, respect, and self-determination into everything we do.
