The aspiration of Dr. Vandy Konneh for the position of National Secretary General of the All Peopleโ€™s Congress (APC) deserves serious consideration from party members, supporters, and stakeholders.

At a time when the APC needs effective coordination, strong internal communication, organizational discipline, and a renewed commitment to party unity, the National Secretary General must be someone who understands the structures and responsibilities of the party and can work with different stakeholders.

Dr. Vandy Konnehโ€™s aspiration represents an opportunity to bring competence, dedication, organization, and purposeful leadership to the office. The position requires a person who can strengthen communication between the partyโ€™s national leadership, regional structures, district executives, constituencies, and grassroots supporters.

His ambition should therefore be viewed within the broader objective of building a stronger, more united, organized, and forward-looking APC.

The APC needs a Secretary General who can coordinate, communicate, unite, and deliver.

*Minister Umaru Napoleon Koroma joins the Fujian Chamber of Commerce as Guest of Honour and prime official unveiler of the chamber.*

*Saturday, 17 October 2026*

The Minister of Employment, Labour and Social Security, Umaru Napoleon Koroma, was Guest of Honour today at the official launch of the Fujian Chamber of Commerce in Sierra Leone at the Bintumani Hotel in Freetown. He delivered a speech and then joined other government dignitaries to officially unveil the Chamber.

The dignitaries included the Minister of Justice and Attorney General and the Ministry of Trade and Industry and other government bodies. Their presence showed the government's support for the Chamber and for continued Chinese investment in Sierra Leone.

In his speech, Minister Koroma spoke about the long business relationship between Sierra Leone and China. He said the two countries have worked together for many years and that this partnership has been good for both sides. It is a relationship, he said, that must be protected and allowed to grow.

The Minister explained why he was at the launch. He said he was there as the Minister of Employment, Labour and Social Security, and that his job is to protect both employees and employers. He described the relationship between the two as symbiotic, meaning each side depends on the other. Workers need employers to provide jobs, he said, and employers need workers to run their businesses and make them succeed.

For that reason, he said, the relationship must be protected so that both parties are safe at the end of any period of employment. He made it clear that the government wants a fair environment where workers are treated well and where businesses can operate and make progress without fear.

Minister Koroma thanked the investors who have already set up factories and other businesses in Sierra Leone. He said these businesses are creating jobs for Sierra Leoneans, which is helping families and communities. He expressed the hope that more investors will keep coming to the country.

He then urged members of the new Chamber not to focus their energy on Freetown alone. He encouraged them to look at the provinces and other districts, where he said there are many opportunities waiting to be taken up.

The Minister added that investing outside the capital would also bring more jobs to communities that need them. Spreading factories and businesses across the country, he noted, would let more Sierra Leoneans benefit from the growth that investors bring.

The launch brought together government officials, business people and other guests. It marks the official start of the Fujian Chamber of Commerce in Sierra Leone, which is expected to serve as a platform for its members doing business in the country.
