Forage U-Pick! 🌱

What is it?

Forage U-Pick is a tool intended to guide users with information for forage selection, forage seeding rates, and forage w**d management. While every effort has been made to compile accurate and useful information, the tool should only be used as a starting point for decision making. When selecting a forage or forage mix, Forage U-Pick should be used in conjunction with additional feedback from local professionals, additional technical resources and new forage research as it becomes available.

Some people collect hockey cards.
Some people collect grazing credentials.

We're not saying one is cooler... but one grows more grass.

The new Rotational Grazing Micro-Credential gives CCAs and P.Ags the opportunity to build their grazing expertise through short online courses, webinars, and in-person events. Along the way, you'll gain practical knowledge on pasture management, grazing systems, and forage production while earning a badge that shows your commitment to continuous learning.

Because healthy pastures, productive livestock, and a little professional bragging rights never go out of style. 😉

Participate in new research on Regenerative Dairy Economics

Are you a dairy farmer?

University of Ottawa researcher Anne-Sophie Pelletier is conducting a study on the economic costs and benefits of transitioning to regenerative agriculture.

Who is needed?

Regenerative farms: transitioned between 2015 and 2022

Conventional farms: currently operating conventionally (for comparison)

Must be an active quota holder, the farm operator or owner and be over 18yo.

What is involved?

A short screening survey to check eligibility. Selected participants will complete a detailed survey (about 60 minutes), share anonymized financial data (Statement of Farming Activities) and participate in one interview (60 to 90 minutes).

Why participate?

There is currently no data on the costs and financial benefits of adopting these practices in Canada. This information could help other producers make better decisions and shape the future of dairy policy. You will also receive a report of the findings to see how your farm compares to others and to provincial trends.

Start the screening survey by clicking here OR share this link with someone who fits this criteria and may be interested in participating. Eligible participants will be selected on a first come, first served basis. Individuals who fill out the screening survey but not selected to participate in the study will be informed by email.
