We’ve received so many emails asking about Christmas dinners and holiday parties, and we truly appreciate you thinking of Valley Graze! ❤️

After chatting as a team, we’ve decided to step back from evening catering turkey and potatoes this Christmas season.

BUT here’s the beautiful thing about supporting local businesses! ❤️

Our neighbours down the street, Shelly’s Catering & Bannock, have put together some amazing Christmas menus! From traditional turkey dinners to roast beef, ham and homemade bannock, they’ve got you covered!

And you know what? We LOVE seeing other small businesses succeed. There’s plenty of room for all of us, and supporting each other is what makes our little community so special.

So instead of saying no to Christmas dinner requests, we’re happily sending you Shelly’s way! 🎅

🎉 WELL… I’VE GONE AND MESSED UP!! 🤦‍♀️🤣

Somehow, I managed to miss Michele in our October birthday posts! And of ALL the people to forget, I picked the ONE woman I absolutely cannot afford to p$&! off!! 😂

WHY? Because this woman holds the SECRET RECIPE TO OUR CHILI!! 🌶️ And if you’ve read our Google reviews, you’ll know it’s been called the BEST chili in town! So basically, Michele has job security for LIFE. I’m not saying we’re being held hostage by a pot of chili… but I’m also not saying we’re not. 🤣

Michele is the SAVIOUR we didn’t know we needed! From emergency milk runs to the 472 times I’ve said, “Michele, can you make us some EXTRA CHILI?” This woman just keeps showing up and saving our butts!

And then there’s her personality…

This “young” lady (insert snort laugh here 🤭) has a comeback for EVERYTHING! She’s got more one liners than Dolly Parton had wigs, and trust me, that’s saying something! 😂

Between the Dolly jokes, the cheeky comments, and conversations that probably shouldn’t be repeated in public, she keeps us laughing!

Dolly may work 9 to 5, but Michele works whenever I run out of soup! 🤣

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MICHELE!! 🥳❤️

We love you, we appreciate you, and I promise never to forget your birthday again! (Probably a lie, but I’m trying to save myself here!) 😂

This week is Small Business Week! ❤️

And it got me thinking… why do I care so much about supporting local small businesses and showcasing their talents?

Because for me, it’s personal.

There were years growing up when my mom supported my sister and I by selling her handmade creations.

What some people saw as just a handmade item was so much more to our family.

It was school supplies, a birthday surprise, or presents under the Christmas tree. It was my mom doing whatever she could to make sure her girls had what they needed.

And I’ve never forgotten that.

So when I see someone selling their homemade bread, candles, crafts, artwork, or anything they’ve poured their heart into, I see more than just a product.

I see someone’s hard work. I see their courage. I see a family they might be trying to provide for. I see my mom. ❤️

That’s why I love showcasing our local makers, bakers, creators, and small businesses. You never know the story behind someone’s little business or what your purchase might mean to their family.

It’s so easy these days to jump on Amazon, or head out of town. And I get it! But sometimes we forget about the incredible talent right here in Merritt.

With Christmas around the corner, I encourage everyone to think local first.

You might just be helping someone put a little magic under their Christmas tree this year.

So let’s celebrate our local makers, bakers, artists, creators, and entrepreneurs!

We’re bringing a little friendly competition to Valley Graze!

Grab your kids, teenagers, parents, grandparents or besties and get ready to RACE!

🌟 FAVOURITE CUSTOMER FRIDAY! 🌟

Meet MARK NENDICK! 🇨🇦🏃‍♂️

Now this guy has been with us since DAY ONE! And when I say he’s a regular, I mean his drink is literally programmed into our computer as “Mark’s Drink!” 😂

But Mark is so much more than a regular customer.

He’s one of those people who walks into a room and makes it better. He takes the time to interact with everyone, encourages others, inspires people and genuinely cares about his community.

And did I mention this guy is representing BC on the 2026 Canadian Backyard National Team this weekend🇨🇦👏

Now, if you don’t know what a Backyard Ultra is, let me explain this craziness! 😂

Runners must complete a 6.7 km loop EVERY SINGLE HOUR. Whatever time they have left in that hour is their rest before starting all over again. Hour after hour, day and night, until only ONE runner is left standing!

No finish line, no set distance, just running until everyone else stops! 😳

And Mark is one of the incredible athletes chosen to represent our country!

But what makes Mark special to us isn’t just how far he can run. It’s his kindness, determination and the way he inspires everyone around him.

Mark, thank you for supporting Valley Graze since the very beginning, for being such a positive part of our community and for showing us what dedication really looks like.

We’re so darn proud of you! 🇨🇦

We have THREE amazing ladies sharing October birthdays, and each one brings something pretty special to our Valley Graze family!

💕 TASHA – Ohhhh Tasha!! 😂 One of those girls who keeps us laughing, keeps us on our toes, and has definitely made me question my sanity along the way! She’s got a personality you can’t help but love, and life at Valley Graze just wouldn’t be the same without her. We love you, even when you’re singing off tune!! ❤️

💕 AUTUMN – Our fearless Operations Manager, my right hand, and quite honestly, one of the main arteries keeping this crazy little shop alive! Autumn wears about 47 hats a day, handles the chaos, and somehow still puts up with me! 😂 Her dedication, loyalty, and heart mean more than she’ll ever know. I couldn’t do this without you, girl! ❤️

💕 KAILAH – Our newest birthday girl!! She’s only been hanging out with us for about a month, but she’s already fitting right in! Quiet at first, a super fast learner, and the wit on this girl!! 😂 Those quiet ones are always the ones you have to watch! We’re so happy she’s joined our crazy little family! ❤️

And Kailah since you’re still new, I’ll take it easy on you photo wise this year… BUT DON’T YOU WORRY, I’LL GET YA NEXT YEAR!! 📸😂😂

❤️ Valley Graze is CLOSED today.

As a small business, closing unexpectedly sucks. But with just 7 staff members keeping this little shop running, we don’t have a backup team waiting in the wings.

Life happens, illness happens, and sometimes tough decisions have to be made.

I’ve always said health, family, then work. And that goes for my team too.

Is closing stressful? Absolutely. But looking after the people who make Valley Graze what it is will always come first.

Coffee and sandwiches can wait. Our people can’t. ❤️
