Prison Fellowship Canada Prison Fellowship Canada (PFC) is devoted to the restoration and transformation of those impacted by incarceration based on the life and teachings of Jesus.

The mission of Prison Fellowship Canada is to equip and mobilize the Canadian Christian community to respond to crime and engage in restorative, Christ-centred ministry to prisoners, former prisoners and their families. Prison Fellowship was founded by Chuck Colson, one of US President Nixon’s top aides who served a seven month prison sentence for pleading guilty to obstruction of justice related to the Watergate scandal. During that time he saw and experienced the difference faith in Jesus makes in people’s lives. He became convinced that the real solution to crime is found through spiritual renewal. At Colson’s invitation, Paul Hellyer, a former Canadian cabinet minister, and a small group of friends in Ottawa, inaugurated the work in Canada in 1980, forming Prison Fellowship Canada. PFC’s Canada Revenue Agency charitable registration number is 13105 6848 RR0001. We are also a member of Canadian Council of Christian Charities.

Sometimes, having someone who will simply listen can make the heavy weight that comes with a loved one’s incarceration feel a little lighter.

A mother once called looking for someone to talk to about her son being in prison. She had been carrying her feelings alone and didn’t feel comfortable opening up to those close to her because she felt they wouldn’t understand what she was going through.

With our Family Phone Line, adult family members now have a non-judgemental space where they can be heard and supported through prayer and encouragement. We’re looking for volunteers who feel called to be that listening ear and reassuring voice for families navigating incarceration.

Today, we pray for the year ahead, trusting that God already knows what we will need before we even ask.

Whatever this year may bring, we pray that He will be with us in every area where we need Him. We ask that He would go before us and prepare the way, and that we would see His blessings unfold in the year ahead.

We kicked off this year’s Pre-Release Fair in Kingston with our Chief of Staff, Ray, and National Bridgecare Manager, Melissa, who shared more about our Bridgecare and Angel Tree programs.

We had 173 community participants representing 52 organizations across Ontario, and together, we were able to reach 1,680 inmates across 7 institutions.

We continue to give thanks to the Lord for opening up these opportunities to connect with those in need of His healing and grace. We pray that these connections will continue to make a difference in the lives of those we serve.

Displaying an Angel Tree Christmas tree, hosting a social event for fundraising, or gathering for a gift-wrapping party are just some of the ways you can participate in Angel Tree Christmas with your church.

With your support as a church community, you can help bridge the gap between an incarcerated parent and their child, and demonstrate how God’s love can reach places we may not be able to reach ourselves.

If you’re interested in signing up as a church to become a sponsor, visit our website: https://prisonfellowship.ca/in-community-programs/angel-tree/angel-tree-christmas/

Join us today as we pray for prisoners whose hearts seek the Lord but face challenges with literacy and learning.

We pray that God will open the doors for greater access to programs and teachers, giving prisoners new opportunities to grow in knowledge and deepen their relationship with Him.

What a blessing it was to have staff from across Canada come together for a planning retreat!

We spent time in prayer, worship, strategic planning, meaningful conversations, and activities that allowed us to learn and grow as a team. We continue to give thanks to the Lord for His grace and guidance over our ministry, and ask that He continue to equip us so that we can serve those who are in need of His mercy.

We’re so grateful for the time we had together and look forward to all that the Lord has ahead for PFC!

When we think about incarceration, we often think about the person behind the prison walls and what they may be going through. But incarceration also affects their loved ones, who may be left carrying their own grief and questions.

Through our Family Phone Line, families can have someone come alongside them during this difficult season. As a volunteer, you will have the opportunity to offer a safe space for encouragement and spiritual support, reminding families that they don’t have to walk through this alone.

If you feel called to support families impacted by incarceration, visit our website: https://prisonfellowship.ca/get-involved/volunteer/

We ask that the Lord would continue to surround these families with support and strength as they carry the responsibilities of daily life. May He continue to bless these families with opportunities to stay connected through Angel Tree Christmas and Camping, bringing moments of togetherness in the year ahead.

As Ariane’s summer internship with PFC comes to an end, we want to take a moment to celebrate and thank her for all she has contributed during her time with us.

As our Quebec translator, Ariane played an important role in helping PFC’s ministry reach French-speaking communities and supporting the work taking place in Quebec. We’re so grateful for the care and dedication she brought to her work and for the time she invested in helping our ministry connect with others.

We pray that the Lord would guide Ariane as she begins university, continuing to lead her along the path He has prepared for her.

Thank you, Ariane, for being part of our PFC family. We wish you all the best in your studies and in your journey ahead!

Thank you, Springvale Church, for welcoming our CEO, Stacey Palmer, and giving her the opportunity to share about our new Family Phone Line, a program that will provide support to adult family members navigating a loved one’s incarceration.

Since 2018, Springvale Church in Stouffville has been faithfully supporting our ministry, including helping 40 children experience summer camp and 383 children participate in Angel Tree Christmas.

We’re so thankful for the many years Springvale Church has spent supporting children and families impacted by incarceration. Your continued partnership has helped bring connection and meaningful experiences to so many children and their families, and we’re grateful to have you serving alongside us.

If you feel called to walk alongside families impacted by incarceration and be a source of encouragement and prayerful support, you can apply today to become a volunteer on our Family Phone Line: https://prisonfellowship.ca/get-involved/volunteer/
