New review! "Transformations on the Radar" by Karine Guyon, about the group exhibition, "Radar" at Galerie Hughes Charbonneau

Excerpt: "For Hughes Charbonneau, Radar has become a tradition, a method of working, and a way to highlight pieces that emerge directly from artists’ studios. A few years ago, driven by a desire to discover new artists, the gallery team began conducting weekly studio visits, meeting artists they might not have encountered otherwise. From these visits, a selection of standout talents is made, and Radar has since evolved into the gallery’s annual exhibition, showcasing the team’s coup de cœur."

Bea Parsons

🧡

McBride Contemporain is pleased to present 𝙠𝙞𝙮𝙖̂𝙣𝙖𝙬, Bea Parsons’ third solo exhibition at the gallery.

Featuring vibrant colour pencil drawings, floor-to-ceiling wooden block towers, and a large-scale floor installation, the exhibition expands her practice beyond the two-dimensional form to unsettle colonial power structures and knowledge systems while asserting awareness, urgency, and collective action.

This exhibition is part of the satellite programming for the MOMENTA Biennale de l'image.

Some favourites from Galerie Cache’s latest group show, Glaneurs de vélléités : de l’abstrait au symbolique, including artists David Bellemare, Catherine Bond, Pierre Durette, Demián Flores, June Gutman, Johannie Lemire, Mégane Voghell, and Etienne ZackMay. I didn’t mark down which artist did which work unfortunately so if anyone knows feel free to comment and I’ll tag. The last two images are details (I badly photographed the originals)

Last day to see the solo Fitzca’s Pond by Matt Shane at McBride Contemporain. These semi-large scale paintings zoom in on humble, but important members of our ecosystem in hallucinatory autumn colours, reminding us of the beauty of the small and precious, making these frogs main characters. Last day!

New Review, "Nostalgia" by Karine Guyon a new contributor! Guyon reviews Kuh Del Rosario's recent show, "An Unhusked Grain of Rice Fills the Whole House" at Galerie B-312.

Except: "Del Rosario’s work requires time to absorb, feel, and sit with after. Intricate shapes, recycled, organic, and found materials, earthy tones, and even the subtle scents that emerge from some of her pieces all collide, inviting the viewer into a layered visual and sensory experience that resists instant interpretation. One sentiment that lingers with me as I reflect on her work is a deep sense of nostalgia, which seems to emanate quietly yet powerfully from her overall installation."
