πŸŒ™πŸšŒ Darker mornings call for extra care!

As we move further into November, our mornings are getting darker, and many students are heading to school before the sun comes up.

A few simple reminders can help keep everyone safe:

πŸš— Drivers: Slow down, stay alert and watch for students near bus stops, crosswalks and school zones. Always follow school bus signals.

🚌 Students: Wait for your bus in a safe spot, well back from the road. Avoid distractions, stay aware of your surroundings and wait until the bus comes to a complete stop before approaching.

🦺 Families: Encourage students to wear bright colours or reflective accessories to help them stay visible in low-light conditions.

A little extra awareness goes a long way. Let's work together to keep our school communities safe! πŸ’™

❄️ Winter weather is on its way! 🚌

Alberta winters can be unpredictable, and we want our Sturgeon families to be prepared!

As temperatures drop and snow starts to fall, winter weather can sometimes affect school bus service.

πŸ₯Ά Buses may be cancelled when temperatures reach βˆ’40Β°C or road conditions become unsafe.

🏫 Schools remain open, even when buses are cancelled.

πŸ“± We'll share transportation updates through our usual communication channels to help families plan their day.

Take a moment to review our Inclement Weather Policy so you know what to expect before the winter weather arrives!

Our thoughts remain with the Canadian Armed Forces community and all those affected by the tragedy at CFB Wainwright. πŸ’›

We are grateful to Morinville Public School, its students and the Town of Morinville for coming together to show support for military members and their families.

For those wishing to show their support by displaying a yellow ribbon, pickup locations and times are available in the original post below.

Beginning in 2002, the yellow ribbon has become a national symbol of support for our Canadian Armed Forces. You may notice yellow ribbons tied around the front of Morinville Public School and staff wearing yellow ribbons over their hearts as a visible reminder that we stand with our Canadian Armed Forces and their families.
Morinville Public School, and the wider Sturgeon Public School community, are home to many military families. Following the tragedy at CFB Wainwright, we are holding all of our military families in our thoughts and hearts.
In partnership with the Mayor and Council of the Town of Morinville, we invite our wider community to join us in showing support for the Canadian Armed Forces by tying yellow ribbons around our community. πŸ’› You will be able to come and get ribbon to use at multiple locations. Each ribbon will be cut by the students and the Dandelion Club of Morinville Public School.
πŸ“ Where to get your yellow ribbons:

Saturday, 10-3pm: Visit our booth at the MLC to pick up a ribbon or two.
Sunday, 2–6 pm: Stop by our booth at the Morinville Cultural Centre.
Town of Morinville Office: Ribbons will also be available at the Town Office.

Our Canadian Armed Forces stand up for us every day. Now, it is our turn to stand with them. Together, let’s fill Morinville with yellow ribbons and remind our military community that they are supported, appreciated, and never alone. πŸ’› Sturgeon Public Schools

A little reminder from Morinville Public School that education is about more than academics. ❀️

It's about building confidence, fostering kindness, creating a sense of belonging and helping students become the best versions of themselves.

We love seeing these values come to life in our classrooms and school communities. πŸ‰πŸ’™
