PUBLIC MEMO
General Home Repair Program (s) Update
Date: August 4, 2026

The Nunatsiavut Housing Commission (NHC) would like to provide an update to residents who have submitted applications to one of our Home Repair Programs (excluding the 2025 critical repair program.)

We recognize that many applicants have been waiting for updates regarding their repair requests, and we sincerely appreciate the patience and understanding shown by homeowners throughout Nunatsiavut.

Applications submitted from 2022 to the present remain active and on file with the Nunatsiavut Housing Commission. Our team is actively working through the existing repair program backlog while continuing to plan and deliver repair projects throughout the construction seasons.

Each year, the NHC reviews available funding, program requirements, contractor capacity, material availability, technical assessments, and community priorities to determine which projects can move forward. This annual review process ensures available resources are directed where they are needed most while maintaining fairness across all Nunatsiavut communities.

As part of this process, approved scopes of work may be reviewed, modified, or adjusted to align with current program requirements, technical assessments, available budgets, and operational resources.

If your application is scheduled to move forward, a member of the Nunatsiavut Housing Commission will contact you directly as soon as a projected timeline for your repairs has been established.

The Nunatsiavut Housing Commission remains committed to working through the repair backlog on an annual basis and advancing as many repair projects as possible each construction season. We remain committed to delivering programs in a fair, transparent, and sustainable manner.

If you have questions regarding your application, please contact your local Community Clerk, who will be pleased to assist you or connect you with the appropriate Housing Commission staff.

Thank you for your continued patience, understanding, and support as we work together to improve housing throughout Nunatsiavut.

Regards,

Brittany Elliott
