How does carbon monoxide (CO) enter living spaces?

Even if your appliances are working, CO can build up due to blocked passages.

Have you checked for clogged chimneys or vents due to snow, nests or debris?

You can’t see it. You can’t smell it. You can’t taste it.

But a working carbon monoxide alarm can warn you.

When carbon monoxide is silent, let safety be heard.

Ghosts might not be real, but fire risks are. 👻🔥

As you get your home ready for trick-or-treaters, keep open flames out of your Halloween setup. Costumes, decorations and other materials can catch fire if they get too close to a flame.

Use battery-operated candles or glow sticks to light up your jack-o’-lanterns and decorations.

You’ll still get that spooky Halloween glow—without the danger of an open flame. 🎃✨

With profound sadness, Wilmot Fire mourns the loss of our Chief Fire Prevention Officer and Station 3 Assistant District Chief, Andrew Mechalko, who passed away on October 9th after a brave battle with occupational cancer.

Since joining the department in 2005, Andrew dedicated himself to serving others, protecting our community, and mentoring those around him. He embodied the values of the fire service and touched countless lives through his commitment, kindness, and unwavering dedication.

Andrew's passing leaves a tremendous void within our fire family. Our hearts are with his family, friends, and colleagues as we grieve together and celebrate a life of service.

Rest easy, Andrew. Thank you for everything. We'll take it from here.
