🥧 YAY, PIE! 🥧
We are SO excited to be facilitating PIE (Preventative Inclusive Empowering) again! our very own BASAC-developed (now AATCS) prevention education program for students in Grades 4–9!
Thank you Saulteaux Heritage School for welcoming us back this year to deliver this program.
PIE is a 9-week program designed to give young people the knowledge, tools, and confidence to navigate life, relationships, and the world around them. Together, we explore essential, youth-centred topics, including:
💜 Understanding and regulating emotions
💜 Self-image, self-esteem, and learning to love YOU
💜 Consent and personal boundaries
💜 Healthy relationships
💜 Online safety
But there’s something else that makes PIE special!
✨ Each week also connects with one of the Seven Sacred Teachings, Indigenous teachings that share important values for living in a good way and building respectful relationships with ourselves, others, and our communities. For example, our week on emotions connects with the Eagle/Love, creating opportunities to explore self-love, compassion, and how we treat others.
We haven’t facilitated PIE since the 2023 policy change ban, so being able to bring this programming back is something we are especially excited about. Young people deserve access to age-appropriate, meaningful prevention education that empowers them to understand themselves, recognize healthy relationships, and build the skills they need to thrive.
Here’s to learning, growing, empowering, and making PIE! 🥧
