National Day for Truth and Reconciliation🧡
Yesterday, we paused to listen, learn and reflect.

At Hands, we recognize that reconciliation is an ongoing journey. It means continuing to learn about Indigenous histories, listening to Indigenous voices, and building respectful relationships in our communities every day.

We honour the children, families and communities impacted by the residential school system, and we remain committed to learning and moving forward together.

🪶Every day is an opportunity to listen, learn and take action.

National Day for Truth and Reconciliation🧡🪶

Today, we honour the children who never returned home, the Survivors of residential schools, and the families and communities who continue to be impacted by this history.
We encourage our community to take time to listen, learn, reflect, and honour the resilience of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Peoples.

Every Child Matters.

_____

Chaque enfant compte.

Public Service Announcement: Between September 13 and September 26, 2026, 16 overdoses have been reported across the Nipissing and Parry Sound Districts that involved unknown opioids, fentanyl, and crack co***ne combined with unknown substances. Of the 16 overdoses, two resulted in death.

The North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit (Health Unit) has issued a community drug alert in response to these events and is advising people who use substances to take extra precautions. The drug alert follows reports from community partners citing unusual reactions such as seizures after using substances including crack co***ne and fentanyl.
