Thank you to Alexa (left) and Samantha from the Acton MS Bennett YMCA Before and After School Program for dropping off a wonderful donation of non-perishable food items yesterday in support of the individuals staying in our shelter.

The children in their program were VERY excited to collect and donate these much-needed items. We’re incredibly grateful for their enthusiasm, kindness, and generosity. What a wonderful way to show care and support for our community! ❤️

We’re deeply grateful to Sue Brundle and the Sue Brundle Charitable Fund for their significant financial contribution in support of our Youth Education programs.

A message from the Fund:

“Sue is pleased to support Family Transition Place's Youth Education program through the Sue Brundle Charitable Fund. She believes every young person should have the chance to learn what healthy relationships look like and how we can all play a part in preventing violence in our communities.”

This generous contribution will make a significant impact on FTP’s Youth Education program, an incredibly popular and valued program that remains largely unfunded. Community support, fundraising dollars, and directed donations like this one are essential to sustaining the program and ensuring we can continue providing young people with the knowledge and tools they need to build healthy relationships and help prevent violence in our communities.

Thank you, Sue, for investing in the well-being of our next generation! 🩷

Our FTP family is deeply saddened by the passing of our long-time friend and supporter, Sandra Small Proudfoot.

Sandy generously donated her beautifully handmade quilts to help raise funds for FTP’s programs and services and was a passionate advocate for survivors of domestic violence. Her kindness, generosity, and commitment to supporting others made a meaningful difference in our community, and we are grateful for the lasting impact she leaves behind.

We were honoured to feature Sandy in our 2023 HOPE magazine. We invite you to learn more about her and her inspiring contributions here: https://isu.pub/PcuJ9Xb

Our heartfelt thoughts are with Sandy’s family and friends during this difficult time. She will be remembered with great fondness and gratitude.

The recent events involving the Cornell 57 have raised important concerns about sexual violence, accountability, and the safety and well-being of survivors. As an organization supporting survivors of domestic and sexual violence, Family Transition Place stands in solidarity with the Ontario Coalition of R**e Crisis Centres (OCRCC) and their response calling for survivor-centred support, institutional accountability, and meaningful change.

As OCRCC reminds us, “Access to education should never come at the expense of safety, and accountability should never depend on how loudly survivors are forced to fight for it.”

Every survivor deserves to be heard, believed, and supported without judgement. We must continue to challenge the systems and barriers that perpetuate harm and work together to create safer communities where survivors can access the support, dignity, and justice they deserve.

We encourage our community to read and share this important response.

Today is the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty.

Everyone deserves a safe place to call home. Many people around the world face homelessness or struggle with unsafe and unaffordable housing. A safe home is more than just a roof over our heads—it provides security, stability, and dignity. Together, let’s work towards a world where everyone has a safe and affordable place to live, and no one is left behind.
