The Rail Fund monitors every major incident involving crude oil across all of Canada's federally regulated railway infrastructure so that Canadians may access compensation for damages that exceed the liability limit of the railway company involved.

Ceci devient un dĂ©versement d’origine inconnue et on doit dĂ©terminer quel navire est responsable. Toutefois, nous ne pouvons verser d'indemnisation si les preuves montrent que le dĂ©versement provient d'une source terrestre ou d'une structure dans l'eau qui n'est ni un navire ni un bateau.

What do I do when I don’t know where an oil spill came from?

Mystery spills are when we cannot pinpoint which ship caused an oil spill.

However, we cannot pay compensation if the evidence shows that a spill came either from a land-based source; or

A structure in the water that is not a ship or boat.
