In August 2020, she joined the Federal Black Employee Caucus and quickly became the Ontario region representative (outside of the National Capital Region), followed by a Lead role in May 2022. Quickly, she was known for her tenacity and was elected a UNE 2SLGBTQ2+ Human Rights Delegate in 2022. Elected to the Collective Agreement Negotiation Team of her employer in 2021 as a virtually unknown activist in the union sphere. Since 2008, she’s published over 24 works of fiction. In 2012, she co-founded, wrote the policies and bylaws, and was elected the first president of a writers’ association chapter in Texas to give some representation to marginalized voices and advocate for change in the industry. Fluent in French and English, Alisha Campbell was born in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, and raised in Sherbrook, Quebec, she later moved out west to Richmond, British Columbia, to live from the east to the west coast. She volunteers for causes close to her heart, devoting countless hours to the issue of inclusion, working as an elected executive member since 2007 on the Committee for Equitable Access and Participation (CEAP), of which she became President in 2009 to complete her mandates in 2018. She has been fighting for all our inclusion in the workplace, in our communities, and across the country, and to effect eventual changes in Canadian history. After a brief career in the private sector, she joined the Public Service in 2003 at the Fortress of Louisbourg, a Parks Canada site in Nova Scotia. She also worked at a Crown Corporation, the Canadian Museum of History, in Ottawa, Ontario.
