A few things happening around Terry Fox this week — plus a reminder about one of our favourite upcoming events!

🎂 CAKE RAFFLE — WE NEED CAKES! 🎂

The TFES Cake Raffle is returning during Fall Open House / Meet the Teacher on Thursday, October 15!

We’re looking for families willing to donate a cake — bake it or buy it, both are welcome! 🎂🧁

🥜 All cakes must be nut-free, and gluten-free or other allergen-friendly options would be especially appreciated so more TFES families can participate.

🎲 Have you checked out the Board Game & Puzzle Lending Library yet?

Students and families can borrow a board game or puzzle to enjoy at home. A fun way to unplug, spend some time together, and try something new!

YMCA PD Day Camps 🎒

We're excited to share that our A Place to Belong After School Programs will now be offering full-day care on PD Days and select school breaks!

Care will be available from 8:30AM- 5:30PM for $45.00 per day.

Our PD Days will be jam-packed with fun! Each day will include a variety of activities and experiences, with plans to include special community partners, unique programming, and field trip outings throughout the year. Specific details will be shared with registered families closer to each PD Day.

Registration is now open for:

October 2, 2026
November 20, 2026
November 23, 2026
December 28-31, 2026 - Holiday Break
January 29, 2027
March 15-19, 2027 - March Break
April 16, 2027
June 4, 2027

Your child's name, school, grade, and the PD Day(s)/break dates you would like to register for.

Spaces are limited, so we encourage families to register early!

🎉 YAY — IT'S FRIDAY! 🎉

We made it through another school week, TFES! ❤️🖤

Looking for something to do this weekend? There are lots of things happening around Orléans and Ottawa:

🍂 Orléans Legion Artisan Fall Market — Saturday from 9am–3pm. Shop local and check out handmade goodies from community makers.

🔧 Repair Café in Orléans — Saturday from 2–5pm at Orléans United Church. Have something broken instead of ready for the garbage? Bring along household items, computers, bikes, torn clothing and more and see if one of the community fixers can give it another life.

🎃 Pumpkin Fest at Proulx Farm — Pumpkin season officially begins this weekend! Head just outside Orléans for some fall family fun.

🏒 Ottawa Senators Fan Fest — Saturday from 12–4pm at the Canadian Tire Centre. Meet the Sens, plus music, food and activities for the kids — and admission is FREE!

Or maybe your weekend plans involve absolutely no plans at all. Those are pretty good too. 😉

And remember — you don’t need to be a voting member to participate in School Council! Everyone in the TFES community is welcome to attend meetings, share ideas, volunteer and get involved throughout the year. A Google Meet link will always be available if you can't make it in person!

👀 Keep an eye on your child’s Google Classroom!

Lots of activities are starting up, including sports, clubs and other extracurriculars. Google Classroom is also an important place to watch for information about field trips, permission forms, classroom activities and other opportunities.

And, of course, check those backpacks! 🎒 Because we all know the most important piece of paper is usually hiding at the bottom underneath a lunch container and three-week-old artwork. 😆

Join us for the first School Council meeting of the 2026/2027 school year!

Whether you’re interested in joining Council, helping plan events, volunteering when you can, or you’re simply curious about what School Council does — come join us!

Tonight will also include our School Council elections for the new school year.

School Council helps support so many of the extras our students enjoy — from subsidized field trips, workshops and learning resources to community favourites like movie nights, trivia and the Holiday Store! 🎬🎄🎶

You don’t need to be a Council member to attend meetings or get involved. All TFES parents and caregivers are welcome!

Come say hello, bring your ideas, and help us kick off another great year at TFES. ❤️🖤

🎉 FIRST WEEK: ALMOST IN THE BOOKS! 🎉

We made it, TFES! ❤️🖤

A huge shout-out to our students for jumping back into school, our amazing staff for welcoming everyone back, and all of our families for tackling the return of early mornings, packed lunches, backpacks, schedules and everything else that comes with September! 🙌

And we already have a couple of things happening:

❤️🖤 FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 4 — FIRST FRIDAY!
The first Friday of every month is School Spirit Day at TFES! Students and staff are invited to wear RED & BLACK and show off that Terry Fox spirit!

📣 TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 8 — FIRST SCHOOL COUNCIL MEETING + ELECTIONS
🕡 6:45–8:00 PM

Curious about School Council? Want to know what we do? Have ideas? Want to get involved — a little or a lot?

Come join us! Everyone is welcome at all School Council meetings. ❤️

Our School Council election will also take place on September 8. More information about nominations and the election process will be shared shortly.
