Our Mission: Ease the struggle of all impoverished families in Ottawa by providing supplemental Halal

Sadaqa Food Bank is a community initiative launched in September 2007. We are a grass roots organization, run primarily on the steam of dedicated community volunteers. It is with a heavy heart that we inform you of the passing away of Br. Mumtaz Akhtar.

His Janaza will take place at the Ottawa Mosque (251 Northwestern Ave, Ottawa, ON K1Y 0M1) on January 28, 2021 at 12:55pm in the parking lot.

Br. Mumtaz Akhtar came to Ottawa in the 1960s as a young man and served the Ottawa Muslim Community all his life. He was known to some of us as Mamdu. He got married to beautiful Talat in the early seventies and their daughters were all born in Ottawa. He has served the Ottawa Mosque, Canada Pakistan Association and Human Concern International to name a few.

On behalf of the Ottawa Muslim Association, and the community, we offer our sincerest condolences to the family of the deceased and we pray to Allah SWT to help them during this time and grant them endurance and patience.
