Ottawa Newcomer Entrepreneurs Hub (ONE Hub) is hosting an Information Session the first Wednesday of each month at 1-1:30pm online.
ONE Hub is a free program within World Skills Employment Centre (a non-profit organization) that supports newcomers who are interested in starting a business, through business coaching, training, mentorship, financial planning and more.
Eligibility Criteria:
-Permanent Resident, Convention Refugee or CUAET
-Living in Ottawa
-Canadian Language Benchmark of 5+ (Intermediate English Level)

The next 3-week Entrepreneurship Essentials training for Ottawa Newcomers begins May 21st until June 13th, 2024 (10am-1pm Weekdays in person select days and online).

The new Food Services Training Program (FSTP) session at The Ottawa Mission will begin on May 6th, 2024.
This is a free 4 months’ culinary program with Chef Ric's.
During the session students will be doing:
- 4 hours of practical classes (Mon, Tue, Thurs, Fri) (6am-10am,10am-2pm, 2pm-5pm, weekly rotation)
- 4 hours of theoretical classes (every Wednesday) (1pm-4pm)
- 40 hours non-paid placement (near the end of the session)
Certifications you will receive once you have completed the program:
- Food Handler (Basic.FST)
- First Aid
- WHMIS

Dear Newcomers, if you are interested in a career in the Skilled Trades, YMCA of the National Capital Region is offering information sessions throughout April for their Power of Trades program, which helps newcomers find skilled trade jobs in Ontario.
Participants Must:
Be a permanent resident or convention refugee.
Be an Ontario resident.
Have a strong interest in the skilled trades.
18 years of age or older.
Program Includes:
Four weeks of in-class preparation training.
A 3-week work placement in a skilled trade of your choice.
Orientation to skilled trades and apprenticeships.
Access to workplace certifications that employers require for new employees.
Access to academic upgrading (Ontario Secondary School Diploma).
Financial support to buy tools, supplies, and personal protective equipment.
Ongoing individualized job search support.
