On 26 May 2026. H.E. Rieaz 'Moe' Shaik joined members of the Diplomatic Corps, Parliamentarians (CAAF) and other distinguished guests in two events organized jointly by Canada-Africa Parliamentary Association and the African Group of Ambassadors to celebrate the Africa Day 2026 in Ottawa.

The panel discussed pathways for the implementation of the Canada's Africa Strategy. The Strategy is a new foreign policy that represents a strengthening of Canada’s engagement with Africa, toward greater economic cooperation, strengthened peace and security partnerships, enhanced engagement of African diaspora communities in Canada, and international assistance that supports economic development and youth employment.

These strategic areas are aligned with the African Union’s Agenda 2063.
The evening reception was graced by Honourable Anita Anand, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Canada; Mr Rob Oliphant, Parliamentary Secretary for Foreign Affairs; and Ms Cheryl Urban, Assistant Deputy Minister: Africa and Pan-Geographic Affairs, Global Affairs Canada.
