24 February 2026, marks the fourth year of the Russian full-scale invasion of Ukraine - and every day since, Ukraine has been fighting a brave battle for their own and Europe’s security.
This winter, Russia has deliberately targeted Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, and with temperatures dropping as low as -20°C, it is critical when electricity and heating are cut off.
Denmark has provided a total of approximately EUR 10.8 billion in support to Ukraine. This includes approximately EUR 128 million in support to Ukraine’s energy sector since 2022.

This afternoon, Ambassador Nikolaj Harris and his Nordic colleagues participated in a roundtable discussion hosted by Senator Andrew Cardozo and Chair of the Canadian NATO Parliamentary Association, MP Julie Dzerowicz.
Together with MPs and Senators, the Ambassadors had an informal and dynamic exchange on a number of topics, including the current geopolitical situation, the Arctic and relations between the Nordics and Canada.
Thank you to Senator Cardozo and the NATO Parliamentary Association for hosting this fruitful and informative discussion. It is always good to see that there is plenty of interest on both sides in increased cooperation between the Nordic countries and Canada.

What is the role and priorities of The Kingdom of Denmark within NATO given the current geopolitical challenges? And what does the Embassy’s work in advancing transatlantic cooperation and multilateral diplomacy look like? 🇫🇴🇩🇰🇬🇱🇨🇦🤝🎓
These questions, among others, were discussed by Ambassador Harris today, as a group of 10 students from Université Laval, University of Windsor and Nipissing University visited the Embassy in Ottawa as part of their participating in Model NATO 2026. Model NATO is an annual, student-led conference on international security, attracting students across Canada who wish to gain a better understanding of the NATO processes whilst refining problem-solving skills.
Thank you to all the students for participating and showing engagement in an important topic, underscoring the strong collaboration and shared values between Canada and The Kingdom of Denmark.
