Photos from NIFSC - National Indigenous Fire Safety Council's post 01/16/2026

On behalf of the Canadian Volunteer Fire Services Association (CVFSA), we extend our sincere congratulations to the NIFSC - National Indigenous Fire Safety Council (NIFSC) and the Indigenous Fire Marshal Service on achieving ProBoard Accreditation—a truly historic milestone.
Becoming the first Indigenous organization in the world to receive this recognition is an extraordinary achievement and a powerful testament to perseverance, vision, and leadership. This accomplishment, built for us, by us, reflects years of dedication in the face of limited resources and underscores what is possible when commitment and community drive the work.
This milestone strengthens not only Indigenous fire services, but the entire Canadian and global fire service community. It sets a new standard for capacity-building, professional certification, and culturally grounded leadership focused on service.
Congratulations to the entire NIFSC and Indigenous Fire Marshal Service team, and to all who supported this journey. Your success is a victory for Indigenous communities and a source of inspiration.
