Government legislation to extend access to citizenship by descent beyond the first generation has advanced to a Senate committee for consideration after being adopted at second reading.

The Senate Committee on Social Affairs, Science and Technology is set to hear from witnesses on Monday, including Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Lena Metlege Diab.
