Bytown Lodge no. 721

A passing of the gavel this evening at Bytown lodge with the installation of our new Worshipful Master, Howard Schwartz and investiture of officers for the 2026-2027 Masonic year.

Visitors from lodges around district 2 participated in the event, adding another layer of solemnity and joy to the event.

We wish all of our brethren the best of luck in the coming Masonic year.

It has been quite a year with numerous degrees, three very successful events, and unfortunately three Masonic Memorial Services. As my last message from the East for the year, I want to let everyone know how thankful I am for all of your passion, participation and support this year.

Congratulations to all brethren who have been elected for next year and I look forward to working under the leadership of our Worshipful Master Elect Bro. Howard Schwartz.

Please make every effort to attend both our Emergent Meeting on May 7— where we will pass a worthy brother to the Second Degree—and our Regular Meeting for the Ceremony of Installation and Investiture of Officers for our 2026/2027.

There was a full house at Bytown Lodge No. 721's 2026 Chili Cook Off for charity on Saturday, April 25, 2026.

Familiar faces from around the district and new friends pulled up chairs in the dining room to sample one of the finest assortments of chili in the nation.

The Bytown Lodge Annual Chili Cook Off is one of the lodge's signature events.

At Bytown Lodge, The Friendly Lodge, the hand of brotherhood is always extended.

On Thursday, April 9th Bytown Lodge no. 721 welcomed into masonry Mr. Yves Chen. Bro. Chen was a great candidate and very articulated as demonstrated during the festive board when he was asked ti speak.

It was also our pleasure to welcome several visitors into Lodge to assist in both the degree work and our annual elections.

Passing to the Grand Lodge Above – V.W. Bro. Don Osborne

It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing of V.W. Bro. Don Osborne, who passed to the Grand Lodge Above last Sunday, March 29, 2026.

Many of his lodge brethren had the opportunity to visit Don in recent days. We know those visits meant a great deal to him, and he spoke warmly and in appreciation of the brethren who were able to see him.

At this time, there are no details available regarding the arrangement of a service. However, we will share further information with the membership as soon as it becomes available.

On behalf of Bytown Lodge, we extend our sincere condolences to Rose and the Osborne family.

The incoming officers for the coming masonic year had their hands full with a ballot and the conferring of the 2nd degree for two candidates.
