The protection of citizens is the most fundamental responsibility of government. As antisemitism surges in Canada, we are taking decisive action to keep Canadians safe in their communities and ensure they can live openly and with dignity in every part of public life.
To that end, Prime Minister Carney announced the launch and membership of Canada’s new Ministerial Advisory Council on Rights, Equality, and Inclusion to be chaired by the Minister of Canadian Identity and Culture.

Indigenous Peoples have been stewards of the lands and waters in Canada since time immemorial, mapping this continent and building trading networks from coast to coast to coast.
Today, they continue to shape Canada’s future – revitalising languages, promoting cultures and traditions, and building resilient, dynamic economies for all.
As we mark the start of National Indigenous History Month, let us take time to deepen our understanding of the rich and diverse histories, cultures, and contributions of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis, and remain committed to advancing reconciliation.

As Her Excellency the Right Honourable Mary Simon concludes her mandate as Governor General of Canada, we thank her for her service and devotion to our country.
As Canada’s first Indigenous Governor General, she reminded Canadians that reconciliation is a responsibility we must live every day – through listening, learning, and action. Through her lifetime of leadership and advocacy, her legacy will continue to shape Canada for generations to come.
This country is stronger because of your lifetime of service. Thank you.
