Call Directions

Penhold Volunteer Fire Department The Penhold Fire Department is proud to be part of Alberta’s emergency services team. Now we all work together.

Our department does not only protect the town, but we also work in conjunction with other departments in our vicinity, Penhold's agreement is with Red Deer County. A lot has changed since the early 1900’s when Fire Companies literally fought to see who was going to put out the fire. That’s why you may see County trucks and firefighters in our town. We exist under the authority of the Town of Penhold and operate using a rank structure. The Fire Chief manages the department and delegates tasks to his captains and front line firefighters.

Keep your eyes open Halloween night! Our crew will have a fire truck out and about, handing out candy to all the little ghosts, goblins, witches and superheroes making their way around the community!

A quick safety reminder for everyone:

🚨 Our emergency lights will only be activated when the truck is stopped while handing out candy. We want to make sure everyone stays safe and visible throughout the evening.

🚒 If you hear our sirens, it means there is a real emergency and our crew is responding to a call. We may have to leave the candy patrol behind and get to work!

We wish everyone a fun, safe and SPOOKTACULAR Halloween!

Keep an eye out for us, and don’t forget to say hello! 🎃

Today, our hearts are heavy as we reflect on the devastating tragedy that unfolded at CFB Wainwright yesterday.

On behalf of the Penhold Fire Department, we extend our deepest condolences to the families, friends, and fellow service members of those who tragically lost their lives. To those who have been injured, we wish you strength and healing in the difficult days ahead.

To the firefighters, paramedics, police officers, military personnel, healthcare professionals, and all first responders who answered the call during this unimaginable tragedy — thank you.

As first responders, we understand the courage it takes to run toward danger when others need help. We also recognize that some calls leave a lasting impact long after the emergency is over.

To the entire Wainwright community and the Canadian Armed Forces, please know that you are not alone in your grief. The Penhold Fire department stands with you during this heartbreaking time.

To those who lost their lives, we honour you. To those still fighting to recover, we stand with you. And to those who answered the call, we thank you.

🚒🔥 FIRE PREVENTION WEEK 2026 🔥🚒

Safe Charging Is a SUPERPOWER! 🔋⚡

As Fire Prevention Week continues, the Penhold Fire Department wants to remind everyone that preventing fires starts with the small decisions we make every day!

From cellphones and laptops to power tools and e-bikes, lithium-ion batteries are part of our everyday lives. But improper charging can quickly turn a convenient device into a serious fire hazard.

🦸 USE YOUR CHARGING SUPERPOWERS!

🔌 Choose the Right Charger: Always use the charger that came with your device or one approved by the manufacturer.

🛏️ Avoid Soft Surfaces: Never charge devices on beds, couches or pillows. Choose a hard, flat surface instead.

🌡️ Watch for Warning Signs: If a battery becomes unusually hot, swells, leaks or gives off a strange smell, stop using it immediately.

🔋 Fully Charged? Unplug! Disconnect devices once they’re fully charged.

🚲 Charge Larger Batteries Outside: Whenever possible, charge e-bikes, scooters and power tools outdoors, away from combustible materials. Never block an exit with charging equipment.

🏠 Don’t Forget the Basics! Working smoke alarms and a practiced home fire escape plan can make all the difference in an emergency.

🔥 Fire prevention isn’t just one week of the year — it’s something we can all practice every day!

Take a few minutes today to check your charging habits. A small change could prevent a devastating fire

Last night, the Penhold Fire Department teamed up with The Pizza Stop to deliver more than just delicious pizza to our community!

Our firefighters traded fire hoses for pizza boxes as we made deliveries around town, taking the opportunity to check smoke alarms and share some important fire safety tips along the way! 🚒🏠

A huge THANK YOU to Pizza Stop for partnering with us and helping make this Fire Prevention Week a little more memorable!

We also want to thank all the residents who welcomed our firefighters into their homes and allowed us to check their smoke alarms. Your participation helps us keep our community safe!

🚨 Remember: Working smoke alarms save lives! Test yours regularly and make sure everyone in your household knows what to do if one sounds.

🍕 Great pizza, great people, and a safer community — we’d call that a successful night!

🔥 FIRE PREVENTION WEEK 2026 🔥

This year’s Fire Prevention Week theme is “Charge into Fire Safety™: Safe Charging Is a Superpower.” 🔋⚡

Rechargeable batteries power more of our everyday lives than ever — from phones and power tools to e-bikes and scooters. With that comes the importance of charging them safely.

Today’s tip: For tools and rides, charge outside!

When possible, charge larger battery-powered devices such as e-bikes, e-scooters and power tools outdoors, away from your home and anything that can burn. Always use the proper charger and follow the manufacturer’s instructions.

Small actions can make a BIG impact when it comes to preventing fires.

Throughout Fire Prevention Week, the Penhold Fire Department will be sharing simple tips to help keep you, your family and your home safe. 🚒

Charge smart. Charge safe. Prevent fires.

Today, we remember. 🇨🇦🚒

On National Firefighters Memorial Day, we take a moment to honour the firefighters who lost their lives in the line of duty.

No matter the department, the uniform or the community, we are all part of the same fire service family. Today is about remembering those who came before us, the service they gave, and the families and fellow firefighters who continue to carry their memory.

Their names may belong to the past, but their service will always be part of our story.

From all of us at Penhold Fire Department, we remember and honour our fallen.

Gone, but never forgotten.
