As we go about our days, it can be hard to recognize when we are leaning too hard on one thing. Maybe we refuse to rest and overload ourselves with commitments, or maybe we never leave our comfort zone because we are scared to try something new. If you find yourself struggling to slow down, or maybe to move forward, we invite you to find ways that work for you to let a little more balance into your life.

Today is World Mental Health Day, a day dedicated to raising awareness about mental health issues, advocating against social stigma, and taking action. Mental health is a fundamental aspect of our overall health and deserves our attention and care, not just today, but every day of the year.

In a world where mental health can be stigmatized and misunderstood, it is crucial to break down these barriers and foster open and honest conversations. There is no shame in asking for help, seeking support, or reaching out to people when needed.

If you ever need support, the Crisis Centre is here for you 24/7. No reason is too big or too small to call 250-563-1214.

Between 1831 and 1996, an estimated 150,000 Indigenous children were subjected to the Canadian residential school system. These colonial institutions denied and suppressed Indigenous sovereignty, culture, and personhood. As a result of the critical injustices these institutions perpetuated, Indigenous individuals and communities continue to unpack lasting trauma to this day.

The Crisis Centre for Northern BC remains committed to standing in solidarity with Indigenous individuals as they speak their truth and seek support with the aftereffects of the residential school system, not just today but every day of the year.

If you need support today or any time in the future, please know we are here for you 24/7 at 1-888-562-1214.
