❤️ A reminder from Redvers Fire & Rescue

Every family deserves to feel safe at home.

Following the tragic loss of 11-year-old Henry Losco, Saskatchewan’s new Henry’s Law requires carbon monoxide alarms in every residential suite within multi-unit buildings by November 1, 2026.

Carbon monoxide is invisible and odourless. Working alarms can save lives.

Our hearts go out to Henry’s family. Let’s honour his memory by spreading awareness and helping protect others. ❤️

🔥 FIRE PREVENTION WEEK | October 4–10 🔥

This year’s theme is “Charge into Fire Safety: Safe Charging Is a Superpower” ⚡🦸‍♂️

Lithium-ion batteries are everywhere these days. Phones, tablets, laptops, power tools, e-bikes and more. They make life easier, but when they’re damaged, improperly charged or overheated, they can become a serious fire hazard.

Here are a few simple ways to charge safely:

🔌 Use the charger that came with your device or one approved by the manufacturer.
✅ Choose products that are certified by a recognized testing organization.
📱 Charge on a hard, flat surface, not on a bed, couch or other soft surface.
🚪 Keep charging devices away from doorways, stairs and escape routes.
⚠️ If a battery is swollen, damaged, unusually hot or has a strange odour, stop using it.
♻️ Dispose of batteries properly at an approved collection site. Never put them in the garbage or regular recycling.

A few simple habits can make a big difference when it comes to preventing a fire.

🔥 From all of us at Redvers Fire & Rescue: charge smart, stay safe and make sure your family has a working smoke alarm and a way out.

🚜 HARVEST ISN’T OVER YET… AND WE KNOW THE PRESSURE IS ON. 🚒

It’s pretty obvious harvest has been extended this year. With the weather, long days and the clock ticking toward snow, we know there are a lot of farmers in our community feeling the pressure to get the crop off and into the bin.

We just want to remind everyone to take a breath, slow down and look out for each other. ❤️

🚜 If you’re on the road:
You’re going to see plenty of slow-moving equipment out there. Combines, tractors, grain carts and grain trucks are all trying to get the job done. Please give them room, be patient and remember that you don’t have to be in a hurry to get where you’re going.

A few extra minutes on the road is worth it to make sure everyone gets home.

🌾 If you’re in the field:
We know the temptation to push through another field, another load or another hour is real. But tired people, rushing and long days can create some pretty serious hazards. Take your time and keep an eye out for the things that can go wrong when everyone is tired and focused on getting the crop in.

⚠️ And please don’t forget about grain safety.

Grain bins and grain handling equipment can be extremely dangerous. We’ve seen other fire departments in the area responding to grain entrapment calls, and these situations can turn into an emergency very quickly.

Please take the proper precautions around grain bins and trucks. Shut down and lock out equipment when required, keep people out of flowing grain, use the proper safety equipment and never enter a bin alone. Make sure someone knows where you are and what you’re doing.

And maybe most importantly…

❤️ CHECK IN ON YOUR NEIGHBOUR.

Ask how they’re doing. Check on the neighbour who has been combining since before breakfast. Check on the family member hauling grain. Check on the friend who hasn’t had much sleep.

Sometimes a simple “You doing okay?” can make a bigger difference than you realize.

Harvest will eventually be done. The crop matters, but getting everyone home safely matters more.

From all of us at Redvers Fire & Rescue, please slow down, watch out for hazards, be patient with slow-moving equipment, and look after one another.

🚜 Take your time. Watch out. Check in. Get home safe. ❤️

🚜🌾 HARVEST SAFETY REMINDER FROM REDVERS FIRE & RESCUE 🌾🚜

Harvest season is a busy time of year, and we want everyone to make it home safely at the end of the day.

A few important reminders as you head into the fields:

🧯 Keep fire extinguishers on combines, tractors and other equipment, and make sure they’re accessible and in good working order.

🧹 Keep equipment clean. Crop residue, dust and debris can quickly become a fire hazard around hot engines and exhaust systems.

🔧 Check equipment regularly for worn wiring, leaking fuel or hydraulic lines, and other potential hazards.

🚜 Watch for slow-moving farm equipment on the roads. Give yourself extra time, slow down and be patient. Do not pass unless you can do so safely and legally. That few extra minutes could prevent a serious collision.

👀 Stay alert and expect the unexpected. Farm equipment may be turning, entering fields or making sudden stops.

😴 Take breaks and stay alert. Long days and fatigue can lead to accidents.

📱 Make sure someone knows where you are working, especially when operating equipment alone.

🔥 If you see smoke or fire, shut down equipment if it is safe to do so, move to a safe location and call 911.

From all of us at Redvers Fire & Rescue, have a safe and successful harvest! 🌾

Be patient. Slow down. Share the road. Make it home. ❤️
