LIFE FLIGHT INTERNATIONAL — THE LONGEVITY REPORT 🇨🇦

What does being available 24/7/365 for 37 years get you?

A lot of information. A lot of insight. A lot of experience.

And very, very tired. 😂

Most people never spend their careers with one company, wearing every hat and being available around the clock. My wife, Trish, and I do.

Marketing, bookkeeping, purchasing, training, coordinating flights, answering the phone and solving whatever comes next. When you own the business, “that’s not my department” isn’t an option.

What’s a weekend? What’s a holiday? What’s a holiday together without a phone call or a flight to arrange?

We couldn’t tell you. But we can tell you what decades of doing this have taught us—and that experience goes into every patient transfer, every decision and every family we help.

Are we tired? Absolutely.

Do we get frustrated? Of course. We’ve spent decades building alliances, partnerships and relationships. It’s hard watching those connections disappear when staff change and the history, trust and loyalty don’t get passed along. Thirty-plus years of working together can suddenly feel like starting from scratch.

But would we change a thing? Nope.

We do this because we love it. It’s in our blood. As a second-generation family business, we understand that when the phone rings, someone’s world may have just turned upside down. They need people who know what to do—and care enough to see it through.

Thirty-seven years of showing up. Every day. Every night. Every holiday.

Still answering the phone. Still wearing every hat. Still going strong.

On September 11, 2001, as the world watched an unimaginable tragedy unfold and civilian aircraft were ordered from the skies, Life Flight International was in the middle of a critical mission.

My mother, Isabel Connor—our founder and a critical-care nurse—was aboard a Learjet 35 transporting a critically ill patient to Florida. Because of the medical urgency, their aircraft was permitted to continue and was escorted to its destination by two fighter jets.

While the skies around them had fallen almost completely silent, our crew remained focused on one responsibility: getting their patient safely to the care they urgently needed.

That mission has always remained a powerful part of our family’s history. It reminds us of the fear and uncertainty of that day, but also of the extraordinary courage of the first responders, healthcare professionals, flight crews and everyday citizens who continued helping others.

Today, Life Flight International remembers every life lost, every family forever changed and every person who ran toward danger when others needed them most.

We will never forget. 🇨🇦🇺🇸

From September 7–13, Life Flight International is proud to celebrate Air Ambulance Week! ✈️🚑

For 37 years, our mission has been to help patients get safely home—or to the specialized medical care they need—across Canada and around the world.

This lifesaving work is only possible because of the dedication of our incredible pilots, critical-care nurses, paramedics, physicians, aircraft maintenance professionals, operations coordinators, ground ambulance teams and office staff. Every member of our team plays an important role in delivering safe, compassionate and timely care when patients and their families need it most.

We would also like to recognize our fellow air ambulance providers across Canada and around the world, along with the hospitals, assistance companies, insurers, ground ambulance services and aviation partners who support every mission.

This week, we celebrate all the people who make air medical transport possible—and the patients and families who place their trust in us.

In just a few days, Life Flight International Inc. will proudly celebrate 37 years of service.
What began as one critical-care nurse’s vision has grown into one of Canada’s longest-operating air ambulance companies—helping patients and families across more than 175 countries.
For 37 years, our family, flight crews, medical professionals and trusted partners have worked together with one purpose: to bring people safely home when they need us most.
We have crossed oceans, navigated extraordinary challenges and adapted to enormous changes in medicine and aviation. Through it all, the values my mother, Isabel Connor, built this company upon have never changed:
