🚒🌊 River John Fire Department Enhances Water Rescue Capabilities 🌊🚒

The River John Fire Department is pleased to announce the addition of a new water rescue boat, provided through Pictou County with funding from the Provincial Regional Emergency Services Provider Fund.

This new resource represents a significant enhancement to our department’s ability to respond to water-related emergencies. Previously, our department relied on an inflatable emergency boat, which limited our ability to respond quickly and effectively to certain water rescue situations. The new rescue boat will provide our members with improved capability and a more timely response when water emergencies occur.

As part of this initiative, six members of the River John Fire Department participated in a four-day Advanced Water Rescue course, receiving specialized training to safely and effectively operate and utilize this new resource.

Our water rescue coverage will extend beyond River John and include our mutual aid partners, strengthening emergency response capabilities throughout the region. Additionally, this boat will be made available to assist with water-related disasters anywhere in the Province of Nova Scotia, if required, providing an important additional resource when communities need it most.

We are extremely proud of the dedication of our members and grateful to Pictou County and the Province of Nova Scotia for supporting emergency services and helping us better protect our communities.🚒🌊
