Halloween is a good reminder to think about the safety and well-being of our pets. With more visitors, unfamiliar noises, costumes, decorations, and treats around the house, it’s worth taking a few extra steps to help keep them comfortable and safe. ⛑🎃
Here are a few tips to keep in mind this Halloween to keep your pets happy and safe:
🍬 Keep treats out of reach: Chocolate, candy, and some sugar-free treats can be harmful to pets.
🔕 Give them a quiet space: Set up a comfortable area where your pet can get away from visitors and unfamiliar noises.
🕯 Keep decorations safely out of reach: Secure candles, wires, small decorations, and anything your pet could chew or swallow.
🧛♂️ Check costumes carefully: If your pet wears a costume, make sure it fits comfortably and doesn’t restrict their movement or breathing.
🚪 Watch the front door: Keep pets safely indoors and away from the doorway when visitors arrive to help prevent them from slipping outside.
Pet safety matters year-round, and knowing how to respond when your pet is injured or unwell is an important part of being a responsible pet owner. Halloween is a great opportunity to check your supplies, review your pet’s safety plan, and build your confidence with pet first aid.
