We’ve recently updated the Dalewood Water Reclamation Facility project webpage with new information, project updates, and fresh renderings of the future facility.
This major infrastructure investment will support long-term growth in St. Thomas, increase wastewater treatment capacity, and enhance environmental sustainability for our community and region.

As warmer weather returns, so does tick season across our community. While it can be tempting to reach for widespread pesticides or lawn treatments, many of these products also impact beneficial insects, pollinators, birds, and other wildlife that help support a healthy local ecosystem.
A balanced natural environment can play an important role in helping reduce tick populations over time. There are several ways residents can help create healthier outdoor spaces while also protecting themselves and their families:
• Keep grass trimmed in high-use areas and clear leaf litter where ticks may gather
• Create buffer zones using wood chips or gravel between lawns and wooded areas
• Encourage birds and other natural predators by providing water sources, native plants, and habitat spaces
• Consider planting native species to support biodiversity and strengthen ecosystem balance
• Use targeted tick prevention methods, such as tick tubes or beneficial nematodes, where appropriate
• Always check yourself, children, and pets for ticks after spending time outdoors
Ticks are a reality in many parts of Ontario, but protecting our environment and reducing risk can go hand in hand. Small changes in how we manage our yards and green spaces can make a meaningful difference over time.

Today, on the Provincial Day of Action Against Litter, we wrapped up the City of St. Thomas Community Cleanup. 🌎🚮
Huge thanks to everyone who joined us, including St. Thomas Public Library staff, the City’s Human Resources team, and our friends at PowerCo — your time and energy made a visible difference across parks, sidewalks, and riverbanks.
Community cleanups help reduce pollution, protect local wildlife, and keep our shared spaces welcoming for everyone.
