Be prepared! Build a kit!
Emergency kits should include essential supplies and reflect the unique needs of each member of your household, including pets. Think about items they would need to stay safe and comfortable for at least 3 days (72 hours), whether you need to evacuate or shelter in place.
Whether you lose water, power, or phone service during a storm, having an emergency kit ready can help you!
You can’t always be home when emergencies happen. If you have a vehicle, by making sure you also have an emergency car kit — including food, water, and first aid — to go in it.

Let us know in the comments if you have anything in your kit that is a great idea!

🚨Emergency Preparedness Week 2026 is here! (May 3–9, 2026)🚨

Emergencies can happen at any time—but being prepared is even more effective when we work together. This year’s theme is Prepared Together, highlighting the importance of neighbours, community groups, and organizations supporting one another.

Take a few simple steps to protect yourself and strengthen our community:

✔Connect with neighbours and loved ones—know who may need extra help and how you can support each other.
✔Make a household emergency plan and discuss it with your family.
✔Build an emergency kit with at least 72 hours of supplies in case you need to get by without power or water.

By working together and staying informed, we can create a safer community.
Let us know in the comments what you’ve done to be prepared!
