Royal Canadian Legion Branch 217 The Salmo RCL sits in the heart of the village next to the K.P Park; we offer comradery to our members; and work together to support our community.

The Salmo RCL actively supports the Salmo community through bursaries, charitable donations, volunteerism, and mentoring. Our memberships allow us to support community initiatives that promote good health, and well being for our seniors, veteran's and youth. Your membership to our organization provides us funding to support these goals. The Salmo RCL provides a location for our comrades to visit, support, and encourage each other. Our members volunteer their time to operate our facility and support our community fundraising. Our facility offers our community a full hall that can host 180ppl, with a full industrial size kitchen hosted by our Ladies Auxiliary. During the fall the members participate in weekly Dart Jitneys on Thursday evenings and our popular Meat draws on Saturdays. RCL 217, is a proud member of the Salmo Villiage and we encourage you to support our team.

Poppy drive starts tomorrow, a little reminder of how the poppy should be worn. I should also mention that swapping out the center for a Canada Flag pin is also inappropriate. As the black center represents the death of the fallen. Our canvassers will have the solid black centers available

Just a reminder that darts and the meat draw are cancelled this week, as we host our comrades in peer meetings. There will be a special cenotaph service at 9am on Sunday. You are welcome to watch.

Following the presentation of the first poppy to the Governor General this morning, I presented our first poppy to outgoing Mayor Diana Lockwood. Canvassers will be out starting Saturday. Remember we don't sell poppies, your making a donation to our local poppy fund. Helping veterans right in our village and surrounding district. For that donation we present you with a poppy to show our gratitude for your act of remembrance.
