After two successful adoptions following recent posts, we thought Fire Prevention Week might keep the good luck rolling!

Meet Knox, this handsome 2 year old husky is currently looking for his forever home, and we're hoping to help him find his perfect match.

We think Knox would do great with a female canine companion, although a meet and greet would be important to make sure they're a good fit. He's an enthusiastic walker who can sometimes pull on his leash, so a little patience and continued leash training would be beneficial. His feelings about feline friends are still unknown, but he’s open to giving them a chance!

If you wish to meet Knox or any of his friends, please reach out to the Sarnia & District Humane Society.

Fire Prevention Week is well underway. Last night Sarnia Fire Rescue hosted our annual Fire Prevention Week Open House. We had nice weather, good attendance and some great conversations with members of our community. Here are some photos from yesterday’s event. 🚒

If you didn’t get a chance to attend, Sarnia Fire Rescue will have a table at Lambton Mall today and tomorrow, just outside the food court from 10:00am to 4:00pm. Come on by for some valuable fire safety education and fire safety giveaway items. 👋

This morning, Sarnia Fire Rescue firefighters completed the construction of and trained on a new wall prop designed to simulate escaping through a window, more specifically one in a basement.

The holes in the prop represent openings a firefighter may need to create by kicking, punching, or using a tool. Once created, these openings can be used as footholds to gain height and work toward the window. Hand tools, such as a Halligan, can also be used to help create leverage and gain additional height.

This is a simple but effective training prop that allows firefighters to practice the skills needed to overcome serious situations they may face.

Shortly after 4:20 p.m., Sarnia Fire Rescue responded to a two-vehicle MVC in the 6400 block of Waterworks Road.

Despite the severity of the collision, all occupants self extricated and only minor injuries were sustained. One occupant was transported to Bluewater Health for further assessment.

Waterworks Road was closed in both directions while firefighters worked to secure the scene and package the vehicles, however it has since been reopened.
